This is the powerpoint and worksheets I have used to teach my students about the Coronation Anthems and Oratorios of Handel. I also used this topic to teach them about the circle of fifths, modulations, structure, cadences, voices etc. There is therefore quite alot in addition to just the Handel stuff. There are listening examples either embedded or linked in the PowerPoint (in the star icons) and a listening test with answers for the end of the unit.
This is a scheme of work I designed for year 8 students to look into musicals. Due to the nature of the scheme of work (provided) I can only provide the first lessons PowerPoint. I am simultaneously teaching two separate musicals, depending on the overall ability of the class, both of which are included in this purchase. Students really enjoy this unit and are able to fully immerse in the topic.
This is my free composition launch presentation and planning document. It goes through the requirements for composition, the criteria, an example of the log and ideas for getting started. I have also included the planning document, students plan their composition and then keep their plan with them updating it regularly as lessons progress.
This scheme of work is currently being taught to year 9 students although I have taught it with year 8 at a different school. The scheme of work aims to explore different genres of music including different musical devices before the main project which involves the sound being removed from four different clips (of each genre) and asking students in groups to come up with the music to accompany it.
The first lesson is focused on Horror.

This work was designed to teach students about Rock music of the 1960s and 1970s. This PowerPoint was used over 3 lessons to initially teach students about standard rock music of the era, the key sub-genres and a lesson about the Beatles. This work also features 2 homework’s which proved very useful with the students.

Many of the sound links are embedded through the star symbols.
This is a full introduction to composition for the AQA GCSE music course however it can be easily adapted for any exam board. It covers what is required for the composition component of the course as well as the fundamentals of composition, some homework and a mini-composition task to help students understand ‘how to’ compose. Any star symbols have a sound link to them and there are some videos embeded in the powerpoint.
I wrote this scheme of work for year 7 to explore texture, tempo, dynamics and rhythm through Gamelan. It was designed for a five week half term but can easily be extended.
