Resistance in circuits lesson
A complete lesson on resistance in circuits including: a starter/settler, learning outcomes, investigation into resistance activity (use a simple circuit with a bulb, cell, ammeter, voltmeter), calculation practice for calculating resistance and plenary questions
Cost of Electricity - Power Lesson
A complete lesson on power and the cost of electricity in a PowerPoint including: settler; starter; learning outcomes and keywords; how to calculate power and calculations for pupils; how to rearrange the formula to calculate energy and calculations for pupils to practice; and introduction and activity calculating power in kWh and the cost of electricity.
Acceleration Lesson
Lesson on acceleration including: Starter/settler, learning outcomes, notes on acceleration and forces, activity on forces, calculations practice using f=ma and the other acceleration formula and plenary questions
AQA Physics - Wave Revision Lesson
A revision lesson for GCSE Physics on the topic of waves.
Learning Outcomes:
Describe the different types of wave
Calculate the properties of waves
Explain how to use a ripple tank to investigate the properties of waves
The lesson includes:
learning outcomes and keywords
a quick starter/settler focusing on some maths skills used physics (this can be edited to be a review of prior learning should you wish)
a recap of the difference between the types of waves followed by exam questions with ms for pupils to self or peer assess
The formula for wave speed, frequency and wave length with some examples for you to model to the class and then three questions taking from past papers for pupils to practice with. Answers provided.
Revision of the ripple tank investigation (for best results demonstrate the actual use of a ripple tank) followed by a 6 mark question with mark scheme relating to the investigation
Series and Parallel circuits lesson
A complete lesson aimed at KS3 classes on series and parallel circuits. Includes: starter/settler, learning outcomes, notes on parallel and series circuits, activity looking at current in different circuits, investigation plan into different circuits and review and plenary questions.
Moments
Complete lesson introducing moments and related calculations. Includes learning outcomes, starter, notes and example calculations, practice calculations for pupils and an extended literacy/numeracy task for a plenary.
Static Electricity Lesson
Lesson plan on static electricity includes: starter/settler, learning outcomes, notes on static electricity, review questions and a practical investigation to be carried out on static electricity.
KS3 Sound and Light Knowledge Organiser
A knowledge organiser on the topics of light and sound covering all KS3 areas, particularly aimed at the AQA new KS3 specification but suitable for all curriculum's. Useful to be given as revision aid or at the start of a topic to aid learning.
Kinetic Energy and GPE Calculations - AQA
A lesson focusing on calculations for kinetic energy and GPE used as a revision lesson. Lesson has outcomes, a starter quiz (can be adapted to match your own prior lesson if you wish), definitions for GPE and KE, opportunity to model calculations to pupils (focusing on working out velocity using the KE formula), questions for pupils to practice on and exam questions to practice in context.
The lesson also give opportunity to practice using the KE and GPE formula and the idea of conservation of energy. There is an exam question on the ppt to model the method, and a harder exam question where pupils can apply this themselves.
Resultant and Parallelogram of Forces - GCSE Physics
A presentation on resultant forces and how to use a parallelogram of forces to calculate a resultant force. The presentation includes:
Learning Outcomes
Slides to deliver the principles of resultant forces
A short exam question on resultant forces
Instructions for pupils on how to construct a parallelogram of forces including:
- Steps for success
- Slides detailing how to carry this out
- A worked example video demonstrating how to use a protractor correctly to measure the resultant force
Practice questions for pupils to practice the use of the parallelogram of forces
Electromagnets Revision Lesson - AQA foundation/mid-ability
A revision lesson for a GCSE foundation tier/middle ablility pupils on electromagnets and solenoids focusing on the magnetic fields. This lesson could also be used to support a practical investigation on electromagnets with the content on the properties of electromagnets and solenoids but does not include any protocols for the investigation.
The lesson includes 3 learning outcomes, keywords, notes on the properties of electromagnets and solenoid with quick review questions and a set of relevant exam questions with mark scheme.
There is also an extension task on planning an investigation into the strength of electromagnets in the style of the new 6 mark questions.
