This revision sheet covers all of the anion and cation tests in AQA GCSE 2016 spec Chemistry topic 8. My students found it useful to laminate and fill in with whiteboard pens as there are so many protocols and results that they need to remember. The resource comes with an answer sheet so students can peer assess every time they complete the sheet.
A great resource for retrieval practice for topic 8.
Students to be given cards to sort into the 2 categories. Can be used as a starter activity to assess prior knowledge or as a plenary to assess progress.
A kinaesthetic GCSE Chemistry lesson teaching the concept of relative formula mass (and % composition) using skittles!
Clearly differentiated by ability from RED activities where students calculate the relative formula masses of simple compounds, ORANGE using compounds with brackets, GREEN using complex compounds with brackets and PURPLE EXTENSION calculating % compositions.
Starter activity ticks the numeracy box and tests students prior knowledge.
Main differentiated construct activity with skittles.
After the main activity, students complete a past paper question which is clearly differentiated with a writing frame and keywords for weaker students to help them access it.
Reflective AFL plenary using paper airplanes for students to reflect on their learning in the lesson.
