This pdf download includes x3 landscape orientation sheets featuring x7 colour ‘splats’ with colour name labels with clear step by step instructions to create colourful acetate/cellophane colours for (window) display. These colours have been designed to install and sense of awe and wonder - the coloured shapes look so beautiful when the sun shines through them and where the colour ‘falls’ depends on the position of the colours in relation to the sun which changes as the sun’s position changes. The set gives an opportunity to showcase the whole set of colours together as a focus to encourage learners to recognise and name each colour. You may wish to introduce these rhymes alongside learning these sounds for the first time and have a set (e.g. of x6) of every rhyme printed out and laminated for groups to use as an extension/quiet activity. My classes of early years and year one children were really motivated to use these and very good at practising them quietly to themselves using ‘whispery voices’ (so cute!) Includes ALL x26 alphabet letters with the same colour (grey) outline - so sets can be used in any combination - mix and match which letters/sounds to focus on depending on the needs of your learner/s. This download includes x22 pdfs, portrait in colour each featuring five/ten images that all begin with one sound - a b c d e/o f g h i/u j k l m n p q r s t v/y w x/z. Letter ‘x’ is the only exception where the x sound is at the END of those words/images. What’s it for? This resource is to enable learners to practise identifying the first (initial) sound (phoneme) of objects (images) and match these with the correct, matching letter (grapheme). I have also grouped these letters into coloured sets (red, orange, yellow, green and blue - also available in my TES shop). However, this black and white (grey) set enables adults to focus on the sets learners need additional exposure to. How to use it? An adult prints the letter sheets (required) out (ideally onto card) and cuts along the dotted lines, including to separate the ‘letters’ from the ‘images’ (instructions are included on each sheet itself). These resources have been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. These resources have been designed as these letters are 'similar’ - the way they are formed is more ‘irregular’ than the other letter groups. These letters zig zag (the letter ‘z’), start and stop in alternating directions (the letter ‘x’), twist and turn (AND start and stop!) - letters ’s’ and ‘f’, begin writing in a reverse direction than ‘usual’ (the letter ‘e’). This ‘Phase 2’ phonics practise activity set has been designed to be a simple activity to consolidate learning. This set focuses on letters m, d, g, o, c, k. This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently and/or for learners to revisit these sounds with an adult. This resource has been designed for Early Years children who are just learning these sounds for the first time, pupils in Year 1 who need some practise/reinforcement of these sounds. This resource is ideal for learners with additional learning needs. How to use it? Each learner matches the ‘grapheme’ and 'picture’ cards as pairs. Learners then place these cards together on the ‘matching mats’ where the full word (for every picture) is typed out for learners to sound out and read. Resource Details… ALL images featured here have been chose because they CAN be sounded out in the order that the Phase 2 sounds have been learnt. This ‘Phase 2’ phonics practise activity set has been designed to be a simple activity to consolidate learning. This activity is ideal for groups/individuals to be getting on with independently and/or for learners to revisit these sounds with an adult. This resource has been designed for Early Years children, pupils in Year 1 who need some sound practise/reinforcement or learners with additional learning needs. How to use it? Each learner is to match the ‘grapheme’ and 'picture’ cards. There are four colour coded sets to help limit options and make the different sets clear to help with organisation. Resource Details… Phase 2 is split into four sets, one set per sheet. Not all phonemes are ‘initial’ letters (in sets 3 and 4 here) - so learners may need this pointing out before working with these. Although the focus of this activity is the ‘sound’ (only) ALL images featured here have been chose because they CAN be sounded out in the order that the Phase 2 sounds have been learnt. The red set (with the exception of ‘nest - which contains an ‘e’ from set 3) are all words which contain the sounds s, a, t, p, i, n. I have designed additional resources to extend learning, including reading and writing words only using sounds in Phase 2. These are available in my TES shop. I’ve recently purchased a ‘corner cutter’ which gives beautiful smooth, curved edges - these card corners are radius size 18. I used size R7 for square cards (corners) and size R4 for larger ‘answer’ cards. The corners of the answer cards are size R10.
