Invite students to think about The Chocolate Touch from a different angle by choosing one of these Creative Thinking writing prompts! Students can choose from one of three options:
1. They are an interviewer doing a lifestyle piece on John Midas. They are to write interview questions and then, as John Midas, write the answers.
2. As John Midas, they will write a letter to the famous advice columnist Ask Angela asking for advice on his problem. Then, as Ask Angela, they will write a letter back to John.
3. They are a newscaster writing a warning bulletin about John Midas. Their job is to warn the public about the boy who turns everything into chocolate!
All materials are included! 3 choices, Sloppy Copy and Final Copy paper and a Rubric for grading!

Teach your students how to build trust in the classroom and why it is important to have people trust you. Included in this bundle is my Building Trust lesson plan, Building Trust poster and the Trust Bank PowerPoint Presentation.
What does it mean to be trustworthy? How do you earn trust? How do you lose trust? Use this kid-friendly presentation to teach your class about trust banks. Students will learn what it looks like when people trust them and what they can do to earn the trust of those around them!
This series of Life as a Slave Stations are designed to humanize the people who were slaves as much as possible. Students often learn about the Civil War and the existence of slavery, but not about the daily life of the people who were slaves. The six stations are designed to help bridge the gap.
The six stations focus on:
1. A picture book station
2. Listening to Songs of Slavery
3. Examining the Food and Clothes of Slaves
4. Studying Photographs of Slavery
5. Learning about life on a plantation
6. The Problems of Freedom
These stations use primary and secondary source materials and are appropriate for students as young as 5th grade. Students will spend time examining the materials at each station and then as a group, write a response to a focus question. All needed materials are included, but you may need to log on to a few websites before beginning.
The needs of ESL (English as a Second Language) students have also been addressed. Accommodations Include:

This door sign has been created for the needs of busy principals and teachers everywhere who never seem to be able to cross paths!
This "The Principal Is..." Door Sign is available in four designs (two white backgrounds, two image backgrounds) as well as an editable sign.
To use, print out on heavy cardstock and attach to a cookie sheet. Attach one of the included arrows onto a magnet to indicate where you are. You can also laminate and use sticky tack and an arrow to show where you are.
