Are you looking for high-quality, GL style practice papers to help your students/children succeed in their exams?
Written by an 11+ tutor of over 3 years (and a teacher of 5 years before that) these GL style practice papers are designed to help children improve reading comprehension and SPaG skills from the very beginning of their tuition journey. One of the biggest barriers I have found when tutoring the 11+ is that the vast majority of practise papers available are on par with the difficulty of the exam; for children just beginning their journey, these are often very difficult to access and can be demoralising for them.
I have designed these papers to be challenging, but still accessible to children particularly in the first half of their 11+ tuition journey.
Here’s what you can expect from my papers:
Quality, interesting comprehension texts which move with the seasons, providing context and relevance to the reader.
Line indicators on texts, as per standard GL examinations.
20 multiple choice comprehension questions - 5 possible answers for each.
Specific spelling, punctuation and grammar questions, with a “identify the mistake” concept. Layout reflects that of the GL style examinations, ensuring early familiarisation.
Full answer sheet with similar format to the examinations, ensuring early familiarisation.
Answers included, with explanations if necessary.
Enhance your child’s/student’s examination prep experience with these practise papers!
Inference activity - 6 separate cards featuring a different pair of shoes. Each card contains four directed questions to encourage children’s inference skills and questioning.
Suitable for wide range of ages due to the open-ended nature of the activity.
Great as a fun starter. Give a set to each pair, or place a different card on each table and rotate.
Laminate for longevity year after year!
Do you have a child who is reluctant to write down new ideas? Or a child who is afraid to try spellings straight into their book? A Try-Pad could be for them!
Print and write the child’s name at the top, before Try Pad. Then laminate and let your child use it as their own personal note taking device!
PLEASE NOTE: These trackers only contain maths and English objectives, not verbal/non verbal reasoning.
I created this resource to easily keep track of the objectives I need to teach my 11+ students, and how they are achieving within them.
Resource features all objectives that may need teaching to cover the content of the exam. As this is a Word Document, you can delete/add objectives as appropriate to each individual child. The RAG rating allows you to track what needs to be taught again.
These tables currently feature the test papers I have purchased/downloaded - you will need to delete these and add ones you have from your own collection.
During the 11+, having an understanding of broad and varied vocabulary is super important. Give this list to your students at the start of the year to guide them through different words to learn!
