The 2017 advert for the Spanish Lottery was released in two versions. The short regular advert and the 20 minute short film. This is based around the 20 minute version. There is a comprehension activity for during or just after the film and it’s differentiated.
French Role Play Revision Game

French Role Play Revision Game

(0)
This is a game for students of French to help with revision of the Role Play aspect of the speaking exam. Students can play in groups. When I tried it with my candidates they fed back that they found it useful. In so far as possible, the topics and questions have been taken from the specimen questions for AQA, Edexcel and WJEC. When a candidate lands on any white square they have to make a statement based on what it is asking. A blue square means they need to ask a question. A yellow square gives other instructions. A green square means they take a card (thus practicing for the unpredictable element). There are two sets of cards, one for foundation and the other for higher. I printed the cards onto two different colours to make it easier to see which is which.

Who Goes First? French

With the new GCSE putting an emphasis on cultural understanding I have made two resources that have suitable tie-breaker questions or can be used as a way of allowing students to fairly decide who goes first. All questions have a numerical answer. PowerPoint: There are links to the questions and the answer within the presentation. If you are using it in class you can ask a student to select a number and then use that question to determine which team goes first or wins. The information is correct to the best of my knowledge as I did research it through multiple sites. Word: There are instructions on the sheet. However, I thought they could be used in pair or small group work. If you want you could turn them into scratch cards so they can find the answer once they have guessed.

Photo Description Revision Game

(0)
As the photo description is a large part of both Speaking and Writing in the GCSE I have prepared a game for students to help with revision. There are two versions: one if you have access to a colour printer, and one if you don’t and they don’t show up clearly in black and white. Work through the board from 1 to 30. Move as follows: 1 space for a word in Target language or a very basic sentence (e.g. in the photo there is…) 2 spaces for a sentence describing the image. 3 spaces for an extended sentence, an opinion, or a different tense. Variations: If you have more able students, they could act as a judge for the other players and decide whether it’s good enough to move on or not. You may want to allow a small help for Foundation candidates and from memory only for Higher candidates. You could add a rule that they cannot repeat what someone else has said. Or allow them to work in pairs to support each other. I’d also suggest a time limit on giving a word/phrase/etc. (10-30 second timer?) Otherwise they could be playing forever!

French Christmas

I have produced a series of posters about the way Christmas is celebrated in France. It is an introductory overview. Each poster shows information about a key element of the festive period. There are also two vocabulary sheets and worksheets to go with it. I would put the posters around the room, then ask the students to find and annotate the sheets. I’d then run a quiz or something at the end or start of the next lesson to check understanding.
What Tense? Sentence Practice

What Tense? Sentence Practice

(0)
The idea is for your students to read the sentences and identify whether the phrase is past, present, or future. I’ve tried to keep the topics around free time and as generic as possible to aid revision. Other things you could do: Specify the verb tense used Translate the sentences Adapt the sentences to make new phrases Adapt the sentence to extend with more information *Anything else you can think of I’ve attached the original English notes as well as a copy in Spanish and French. If anyone translates them into any other language I would be most grateful for a copy.

Spanish Christmas Poster Lesson

This is a series of posters made about how Christmas is celebrated in Spain over the key dates in December and January. This is an introductory overview. There are also 2 vocabulary pages and some activity sheets for students to fill in. I’d display the posters around the room and give students time to find the information and note it on the sheet. I’d then follow it up with a mini quiz to check understanding.

El Gordo Adverts

This is a possible lesson/part of a lesson for Christmas. There is a starter with questions and information to find the answers Then links to all adverts from 2014-2018. Ideas for activities: How do you feel during the advert? Review the advert Sort the pictures in the order of the advert Describe the picture from the advert. Update for 2019. I have added a link to the adverts for this year and created a series of questions to go with it.
