Food & Nutrition/Food Technology Holidays Skills Challenge
This is a challenge worksheet that I have used for over the summer holidays but it could be used over any holiday or term, or as ongoing homework. The worksheet is for students to repeatedly practice key skills, encouraging spaced practice of basic core competencies.
This could be used for all of KS3.
Currently there is a reward system on the document based on my schools house system with house points. I have removed my school logo and house icons so that you can insert your own house logos etc. Housepoints for different levels could be substituted for your own system eg. merits.
This worksheet is useful when exploring Food Provenance. Students get information about a certain food and explore the journey of that food from production to disposal. There is also a space for a definition of Food waste and sustainability.
This is a 2 page worksheet for use in a Weighing and Measuring lesson, featuring a codebreak where students record common abbreviations, a space for student to sketch a variety of different weighing/measuring equipment.
I use this worksheet alongside my weighing and measuring powerpoint (available on my shop). This worksheet and powerpoint asked students to move around weighing stations to practice using different pieces of equipment.
This is a retrieval mat for use in any subject. This is a designated resources for students to complete retrieval practice on. I laminate and students use wipeboard pens to fill in their answers. This is a really good low-stakes way of introducing retrieval, because students can wipe off answers.
There is an area for a quick quiz (questions requiring an A,B,C,D type answer or perhaps one word)
Lined ‘paper’ area for slightly longer answers like sentences or phrases
When students have complete the questions I use the thought bubble space for students to think of key words from last lesson
The magnifying glass is there for students to write any questions they would like to ask- this is good for students who often forget their question. This space gives them an opportunity to write it down whilst you are busy doing the register etc.
