In Japan there is a tradition that the mothers of children of kindergarten age provide their children with a lunchbox two or three times a week to take with them to school. Usually, these are made early in the morning along with breakfast. A lot of effort goes into making a tasty, nutritious and visually appealing meal that will be put into a small lunchbox called a ‘bento’, which is then wrapped in a colorful cloth napkin.
The images in this pack can be used with classes of all ages and backgrounds, and in different ways according to the teacher’s skills and inclinations. Following is a list of the contents and some possible uses.
1. A set of 50 high quality JPEG images that can be printed out for use in games and tasks of many kinds.
2. A 14 page PDF document of the same images grouped into sets of 4 that can be used for bingo, matching or comparison type games.
3. A Powerpoint 14 slide presentation of the same 4 grouped images for demonstration purposes, or classroom quizzes. There are sample questions in the notes section of each slide, which are aimed at kindergarten/elementary level, but can be altered to suit the level of the class.
4. A Keynote presentation for Mac or iPad users, which contains the same 14 slides and information as the Powerpoint.
All the images in this pack are copyrighted for personal and educational use.

This resource provides a fun and engaging way of practicing simple story writing. With that aim in mind I have put together some of the materials I use in my own ESL classes and believe they would also be suitable for younger students and others that may require further practice in writing and making short stories that have a beginning, middle and conclusion.
The picture prompts can be divided into four topic areas; adventure, mystery, horror and scifi. There are four of each type with or without prompts, so the teacher can decide which to use based on the needs of the individual student or class.
I have also provided a teacher guide to some of the ways these prompts can be used, including a method where the students write different parts of each essay in groups.
The materials include:
1. Large image slides with 3 title prompts each in color. There are 16 of these that can be laminated for repeated use with students - PDF
2. 16 essay task sheets with image only - PDF
3. 16 essay task sheets with image and beginning sentence - PDF
4. Teachers Notes - PDF
