Nouns (1 of 3)
The first lesson out of three that focuses on nouns. These have been written with 5/6 in mind but are easily adaptable.
This lesson acts as an introduction/ recap of nouns with the focus then being on common and proper nouns. Included are all the resources needed for the lesson including the plan, slides and differentiated resources.
Tim Farron Reading Comprehension (General Election 2017)
A reading comprehension about Tim Farron that children can use in the build up to the 2017 election. It is also useful as a general reading comprehension about important people.
Included is: a fact file about Tim Farron that is also a reading comprehension. This includes three differentiated worksheets with 10 questions each and answers included to test children's comprehension knowledge as well as learning about Tim Farron at the same time.
Antonyms and Synonyms for Verbs (1 of 2)
The first of two lessons that focuses on synonyms and antonyms. These have been written with 5/6 in mind but are easily adaptable.
This lesson acts as an introduction/ recap of synonyms and antonyms as well as focussing on verbs. The activities will help children identify how changing verbs can create effective sentences. Included are all the resources needed for the lesson including the plan, slides and differentiated resources.
N.B The lesson resources are titled lesson 4 as it is the fourth lesson from a bigger sequence of learning.

A presentation that looks at determiners, focussing on numerical determiners and examples of these. This then extends to showing different examples of them in use before getting children to think about their position in relation to the noun and identify determiners themselves in a sentence.

A presentation that focuses on adverbial clauses as well as differentiated worksheets on adverbial clauses.
Each set of worksheets: Three differentiated worksheets that focus on adverbial clauses for children in either Year 5 or 6. Activities start with children being able to identify adverbial clauses before moving on to including them and then writing their own sentences that include adverbial clauses.
Determiners - Quantifying
A presentation that looks at determiners, focussing on quantifying determiners and examples of these. This then extends to showing different examples of them in use before getting children to think about their position in relation to the noun and identify determiners themselves in a sentence.

A presentation that looks at determiners, focussing on the, a and an, identifying the difference between them and when a or an should be used. This then extends to showing different examples of them in use before getting children to think about their position in relation to the noun and identify determiners themselves in a sentence.
Determiners - Ordinal
A presentation that looks at determiners, focussing on ordinal determiners and examples of these. This then extends to showing different examples of them in use before getting children to think about their position in relation to the noun and identify determiners themselves in a sentence.
Determiners - Possessive
A presentation that looks at determiners, focussing on possessive determiners and examples of these. This then extends to showing different examples of them in use before getting children to think about their position in relation to the noun and identify determiners themselves in a sentence.
Jigglypuff Reading Comprehension
Reading comprehensions related to Pokemon to try and engage children whilst also developing their comprehension skills. Included is a fact file about Jigglypuff with three differentiated sets of 10 questions with the answers included.
Adjectives and Nouns Lesson
A lesson that focuses on being able to recap word classes with a particular focus on nouns and adjectives.
Included in the resource is a lesson PowerPoint that recaps regularly as a class what a noun, verb, adjective and adverb are before focusing particularly on nouns (with a focus on common and proper nouns) and adjectives.
Also included are five different activities to choose from depending on which is most appropriate for your class or that can then be chosen for specific groups of children. Answers are included where possible. These activities include:

Sorting nouns into common and proper nouns before creating adjectives for the common nouns
Defining nouns and adjectives and finding examples in sentences

Expanded Noun Phrase - Double Lesson
A fully-resourced double lesson that focuses on introducing expanded noun phrases.
The first lesson focuses on being able to identify the determiner, adjective/s and nouns before taking examples of expanded noun-phrases and placing them in sentences.
The second lesson then follows up by working on creating examples of expanded noun-phrases from images and given noun phrases.
Each lesson includes a lesson PowerPoint that provides the opportunity to teach, discuss and practice key areas before then moving on to independent activities which include answer sheets where relevant (some don’t due to the open nature of answers.)

Political Leaders Reading Comprehension Bundle (General Election 2017)
Reading comprehensions about the leaders of the four biggest parties based on 2015 seats that children can use in the build up to the 2017 election. It is also useful as a general reading comprehension about important people.
Included is: a fact file about them that is also a reading comprehension. This includes three differentiated worksheets with 10 questions each and answers included to test children's comprehension knowledge as well as learning about party leaders at the same time.
Instructions Scheme of Work (planning, slides and resources included)
Fully planned, differentiated and resourced unit of work looking at instructions. Included are all the slides, planning and resources needed to run each lesson, with 8-10 lessons that focus on key features of instructions and work on different skills before completing their own independent writing. Written for Year 5 but easily adaptable between Year 3 and Year 7.
Independent writing is linked to George's Marvellous Medicines with children creating 'different' types of medicine with a list of possible ingredients also included and an example of how it could be written.
Skills include: Using linking adverbs (time adverbials) and using imperative verbs as well as creating a poppy for remembrance day.
Discussion text planning/ IWB slides and resources
A comprehensive set of resources for anyone to be able to teach a block on writing discussion texts. Planned for Year 5 but very easily adaptable to Year 4 or Year 6.
Included are:
Full lesson plans for 15/16 lessons, with differentiated activities for children.
IWB slides for every lesson that go step by step through the lesson. (N.B. In the shared writing sessions, the example paragraphs just need playing around with to a new topic. Whilst I could have done these, it is more powerful to do them with the class at the time)

Word banks for children to use.
A self-assessment/ teacher assessment marking sheet that helps children assess as they write and can then be used for a simple marking sheet to pick out positives and targets for children.

A bundle of reading comprehensions related to famous people that links to any work around Black History Month, focussing on significant figures and their lives whilst also developing comprehension abilities.
The Explorer Reading Comprehension Lessons 3 to 6
Comprehension lessons three to six for the story ‘The Explorer’ that focus on different comprehension skills based on the the first and second chapter of the story. Included is the PowerPoint which has all the lesson structures in (easily adaptable) as well as the activities and answer sheets (where there aren’t answers provided it is because the expectation is around class discussion or because answers are too wide ranging).

Guided Reading Activity Cards
A set of 32 activity cards that children can complete during guided reading/ reading comprehension sessions related to the book they are reading. These work for either the text they are reading together or their own book and use a variety of ways to show understanding as well as developing their understanding of language.
