A lesson that focuses on natural hazards, particularly in being able to identify the differences between climatic and tectonic hazards. The lesson works well as an introductory lesson in teaching pupils about different natural hazards and understanding why these occur. There is everything needed to be able to deliver the lesson including the lesson PowerPoint, starter activity, three activities and support sheets. The lesson starts with a starter focusing on the equator and tropics to prompt understanding of climate and weather conditions. This then moves on to identifying key vocabulary and introducing the idea of natural hazards. Activity One then requires pupils to sort examples of natural hazards into climatic and tectonic. There is a cut and stick version of this with images or a separate version using written text for those looking to save on time and printing. This then moves on to the second activity focusing on being able to identify similarities and differences between climatic and tectonic hazards. This is presented as a Venn diagram with a support sheet to help with ideas. However, there is also an alternative version of the activity should teachers wish to use it, with a reduced outcome through limited boxes available. This is then followed up by more discussion and a review task to check understanding at the end of the lesson. Additionally, a support sheet is provided with the key vocabulary, information and images from the PowerPoint all provided on one page for pupils to refer back to.

A three/four lesson enquiry on earthquakes that looks to answer two questions, as well as providing the opportunity to work through two case studies of earthquakes. The information and activities are provided within one document that can be printed as a booklet to then work through. This includes key vocabulary, key information and diagrams alongside activities that get pupils to think about and use their learning in different ways, as well as time to answer the two main questions. Also included is a PowerPoint presentation that can be used alongside the information sheets. This includes everything that can be found in the information sheets, alongside extra written text and instructions within the notes sections. Both documents have been uploaded as PowerPoints so they can be easily adapted, with these lessons easily adaptable across a range of ages.

Two fully-resourced lessons that focus on looking at cities in the United Kingdom and being able to use different compass points. The first lesson focuses on looking at different types of settlement and being able to identify these by images/ by description. This then moves on to focusing on cities in the United Kingdom, identifying cities on a map as well as then being challenged to find more cities for each county of the United KIngdom. Included is a lesson presentation with modeling and discussion as well as independent activities that includes answer sheets. There is also a recap task based on previous lessons in the sequence to identify capital cities of the UK and seas and oceans. The second lesson focuses on different compass points, recapping the four compass points and using the eight compass points. These are then used to link to the first lesson in being able to describe the position of one city to another using compass points.
