Math
Decimal Multiplication Lesson
A double lesson that focuses on being able to multiply decimal numbers. There are two lessons within, focussing on different aspects as well as an arithmetic starter and an 12x starter for the second lesson where issues from the first lesson can be addressed. Also included is a worksheet that has practise and challenge questions and answers included. In the second lesson, children can then spend time responding to any mistakes they made in the first lesson.
Decimal Place Value Lesson
A lesson that recaps decimal place value. Included are different style questions to work through independently before then working through answers as a class as a continuous check. There is also a place value grid to support learning.
Decimal Addition and Subtraction Lesson
A double lesson that focuses on being able to use decimal addition and subtraction. Multiplying and Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 Lesson
A lesson that focuses on being able to multiply and divide by 10, 100 or 1000. Taught as an arithmetic style lesson that focuses mainly on the practice of the skill with questions and answers to self-check. There is also an 11x starter and some challenge questions for those that finish and place value grid to support learning.
Percentages Lessons
Two lessons that focus on being able to find any percentage of an amount, focussing in on finding 10, 5 and 1 initially before then identifying how these can be used to find any %. Included is a supporting place value grid for dividing by 10 and 100 and a worksheet with answers.
BIDMAS Triangle
A simple triangle that can be used as a resource/ poster to support lessons teaching the order of operations. The triangle aims to highlight the link between division and multiplication and addition and subtraction rather than working down the list of words.
Percentages Lesson - 25 and 50%
A lesson that focuses on being able to find 50 and 25% of numbers as well as using this to then find 75%. The lesson presentation includes examples of how to half and divide by 4 as well as having guided practice questions that include challenges. There is then a worksheet to work through including practice and more challenging questions as well as a set of answers.
Year 6 - Addition and Subtraction Reasoning Questions
A bank of questions from previous SATs papers including the sample tests that focus on addition and subtraction. These have all been pulled from the reasoning papers so they can be used to challenge children’s understanding or can be used as a mini-assessment of how children are with addition and subtraction.
Times Table Reasoning Activities (6,7,8,9x)
Activities that require children to use known facts to then be able to reason how to solve other calculations. Each page gives children a known fact and then calculations where the numbers have been manipulated and a box where they can explain how to use the known fact to find the answer.
