A lesson made for Year 6 as a simple revision of written addition and subtraction. Included is an arithmetic starter, examples to discuss and practice questions to then check understanding before a practice activity and three different challenge activities for those who are confident.

Two lessons made for Year 5/6 that takes on an arithmetic style lesson but incorporates challenge through green bubbles, variation and challenge questions taken from the NCETM documents. The lessons focus on the link between operations so that children can identify missing numbers in an incomplete equation before beginning to look at this algebraically.

A mat that looks at being able to add and subtract fractions, multiply fractions together and by whole numbers and being able to divide fractions by whole numbers.

Two lessons that focus on being able to find any percentage of an amount, focussing in on finding 10, 5 and 1 initially before then identifying how these can be used to find any %. Included is a supporting place value grid for dividing by 10 and 100 and a worksheet with answers.

An activity that gives children number facts for the 5x table within triangles with children then having to find all the facts they can from the given numbers. This can work well as a starter and helps children see the commutative whilst seeing the link of operations. Children can then be extended to think about how the = sign can move around and what fraction facts they can find.

A breakdown of all the questions from the KS2 2018 Maths papers, split in to the various year group strands they have come from. Some questions overlap as they share curriculum strands from two different year groups. Included is also a breakdown of the questions in statistical form to show what each year group contributed in terms of marks. These are useful for sharing with staff in KS2 to show the types of questions children are expected to do for each year group as well as breaking questions down if people wish to practise easier or more challenging questions.

FIve adapted versions of the 2019 KS2 Arithmetic test that can be used to support quizzing and progress against the same question types. Each adapted version includes the same question types and requirements of pupils with adapted numbers that look for the same mathematical understanding. Each paper also includes an answers on a page for marking with ease.

Times table activity grids that work on various times table facts based on a set number or numbers. Each one includes a focus times table or tables before then using that to work in different ways so that children can see patterns and develop their understanding e.g. seeing if it is 10 times smaller, 100 times bigger, double an answer they have etc.

An arithmetic style lesson that focuses on using written multiplication by one digit, primarily with three and four digit numbers but also then through decimal numbers to show the link. Included are two example methods for children to work through and practice before deciding on the most efficient and applying this to the practice activity. Before this, there is a question to check depth of understanding. The answers are then included so children can self-check and move on to the challenge activities. Also included are pink and green bubbles to scaffold and challenge as well as the methods so they can be cut out and stuck in to refer back to.

A brief PowerPoint that can be used as part of a bigger revision session that focuses on fractions and decimals, predominantly with converting them. Where there are questions with bubbles, these are for children to answer. Previous SATs questions with no bubbles are then to explain and look at as a class before applying that to practice questions.

Attached is a version of a potential calculation policy that people can use for ideas to help in developing their own. Each year group is broken down in to the 4 operations, identifying mental and written methods and linking to other strands in the curriculum. Written methods are kept to a minimum to ensure children become 'experts' in that method and to ensure consistency throughout teaching.

A set of 7 slides that get children to discuss various aspects of maths e.g. the odd one out with three shapes as well as getting them to consider how numbers can be manipulated to improve understanding of number.

A worksheet that provides a variety of questions linked to being able to simplify and identify equivalent fractions. Included as part of the worksheet are 8 different questions that provide variation to check understanding through the use of different models, representations and question styles. In addition, there is a copy of the worksheet that includes faded scaffolding to support pupils in accessing the first few questions. There is also an extension task that provides challenge with a further 4 questions. Answers are also included for all questions. This worksheet can easily be used as a worksheet when teaching the objective or used for recap/ revision or even to be sent home as homework.

A lesson focussing on finding fractions of amounts through an arithmetic style lesson.
