The Explorer Reading Comprehension Lessons 3 to 6
Comprehension lessons three to six for the story ‘The Explorer’ that focus on different comprehension skills based on the the first and second chapter of the story. Included is the PowerPoint which has all the lesson structures in (easily adaptable) as well as the activities and answer sheets (where there aren’t answers provided it is because the expectation is around class discussion or because answers are too wide ranging).

Ancient Maya: Four Comprehension Lessons
A sequence of lessons of four lessons for whole-class reading comprehension lessons based on a text on the Ancient Maya. Included is the PowerPoint with all four lessons (written with 5/6 in mind but easily adaptable), the information text about the Ancient Maya and an activity and answer sheet for each lesson. The focus over the week covers vocabulary, retrieval, inference and the ability to summarise.
Year 3 Multiplication (2-digit by 1-digit) 4 lessons
Four lessons that focus on being able to use written multiplication for 2-digit numbers by 1-digit in Year 3.
Lesson 1 and 2 - A double lesson that focuses on introducing 2-digit by 1-digit multiplication for children in Year 3, using partitioning to support with this. Included is a lesson PowerPoint that includes arithmetic starters, activity task and challenge tasks which both also include answers.
The lessons work on building understanding through multiplying by the ones and then the tens seperately to then add together. This can then be used to build on to written multiplication through one step.
Lesson 3 and 4 - A double lesson that focuses on introducing 2-digit by 1-digit multiplication for children in Year 3, using the compacted method having previously been taught partitioning to support with this. Included is a lesson PowerPoint that includes arithmetic starters, activity task and challenge tasks which both also include answers.

Year 5 Perimeter - Measuring and Calculating (4 Lessons)
Four lessons that focus on being able to work with perimeter in Year 5 with lessons set out as two double lessons.
The first double lesson focuses on being able to measure shapes and calculate the perimeter of rectangles and squares where a ruler has been provided to measure the shapes.
The second double lesson then follows up by focusing on being able to calculate the perimeter of different shapes, using the information provided or what children already know about the property of shapes.
Each double lesson includes:
A double lesson PowerPoint that includes an arithmetic starter for each lesson, key vocabulary, modelling and discussion points as well as guided practice before moving on to independent activities.
An independent activity that applies what children have learnt during the teaching part of the lesson. An answer sheet is included for the activity and there are challenge activities for children that finish which also include answers. The activity and challenges run over both lessons as it is expected that there may be more time teaching and talking in the first lesson before having more time to practise in the second lesson. However, everything is uploaded in PPT format so can be easily edited to suit.

Year 5 Area - Area of Compound Shapes (3 lessons)
Three fully-resourced lessons focusing on being able to calculate the area of compound shapes.
The lessons are split so that they act as an introductory lesson before having a double lesson that provides the opportunity to develop and become confident in finding the area of compound shapes.
The first lesson includes a lesson PowerPoint that includes an arithmetic starter, key vocabulary, modelling and discussion as well as guided practice. This is followed up with an independent activity and challenge tasks to apply what has been learnt, with answer sheets included with these.

A fully planned and resourced writing unit working on creating a set of instructions for mummification.

With drafting and redrafting, as well as then publishing a final piece, there should be enough lessons for between 6 and 8 lessons. The ‘lessons’ as they appear on the PowerPoint may take more than one ‘lesson’ and form sequences of learning. The first step is looking at the features of instructions, including a focus on the knowledge organiser before then identifying these in the model text.
The second sequence then moves on to being able to sequence the steps of mummification when given a set of instructions that can then be improved as part of a challenge. This moves on to then taking a simple set of instructions and improving them, with teacher modelling and guided practice before completing the activity.
This then leads into drafting and redrafting, including teacher modelling and providing feedback based on how pupils write, with the previous activities and word banks still being available to support during the writing process.

Four lessons that focus on rounding in Year 4. Separate lessons focus on rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 before a final recap lesson that focuses on all 3. Each worksheet includes place value grids to support placing the number and then a second grid to consider how the digits move to support answering the question. Answer sheets are also included.
Overall, there are 16 worksheets that focus on whole number answers and decimal answers through single operation focus and multiple focus.

Each presentation focuses on examples of these determiners. This then extends to showing different examples of them in use before getting children to think about their position in relation to the noun and identify determiners themselves in a sentence.
