A lesson presentation that has been made for Year 6 to work on mental multiplication though this is easily adaptable for other year groups. The focus is on three different ways to be able to mentally multiply.

An activity based around -igh for children. Included are cards with all the letters of the alphabet and the igh sound where children can then practise seeing what words they can create when blending sounds together. Recommended to print two sets of the letter cards because of words like tight.

The months of the year represented with their name in French. Can be used for displays or for simple activities to help children learn the months of the year in French.

An activity that gives children number facts for the 3x table within triangles with children then having to find all the facts they can from the given numbers. This can work well as a starter and helps children see the commutative whilst seeing the link of operations. Children can then be extended to think about how the = sign can move around and what fraction facts they can find.

A simple set of letters that can be used as a peer marking code for children to use when assessing others writing. These are basic but are effective for getting children to consider the key elements of the writing and being able to mark it quickly and effectively. They could also be used for staff to mark writing with children then responding to these to improve their own, whilst saving time writing lengthy comments.

36 question practice paper for Year 6 ahead of the statutory assessments that combines both elements of the arithmetic paper and problem solving and reasoning. Questions have been taken from a range of sources including some examples from previous papers to help prepare children for some of the types of questions they may come across.

10 questions that check children's understanding of the 12 times table through more complex methods than just giving them a 12 times table test. Included are word problems, reasoning questions and showing the relationship between numbers.

A simple triangle that can be used as a resource/ poster to support lessons teaching the order of operations. The triangle aims to highlight the link between division and multiplication and addition and subtraction rather than working down the list of words.

A lesson/ two lessons based on discussions on being able to write character descriptions. The lesson is based on the mini story of Geri's game that is shown on Literacy Shed with the key element of the lesson focussing on being able to describe one character as if there are two people there. Included in the presentation is work on adjectives, the link for the clip, questions for children to answer (and answers my children came up with) and a small example of being able to write a description of one character as if he is two different people.

The fourth lesson of a sequence for light in Year 6. The focus of this lesson is reflection and the law of reflection with children completing activities off the PowerPoint as well as watching a video to then further develop their understanding.

A lesson that focuses on being able to calculate the area of triangles. Included is the teaching aspect, practice questions, a misconception question and challenge questions taken from WRM. Also included are pink bubbles to support and green bubbles to provide extra challenge.

A worksheet that requires children to practise being able to find fractions of amounts. As well as a number of practise questions there are then also reasoning/ problem solving style questions with the answers also included.

A PowerPoint that gives a brief introduction to the issue of littering. This is useful for an assembly or discussion in class as it focuses on what littering is and some of the significant issues that come about from littering. To finish, there is a link to a video that looks at removing rubbish from canals because of how plastic is making it to the oceans.

A lesson that focuses on comparing and contrasting physical and human geographical features between the United Kingdom and Canada. Each slide has a map of Canada and of the U.K for a particular feature with the class then spending time noting down similarities and differences. These can then be discussed as a class before moving on to the next slide.

A PowerPoint lesson that focuses on the objective of variables from the Year 6 WRM planning. There is an arithmetic starter included as well as a number of questions to work through (including pink and green bubbles for support and challenge) where answers can then be discussed. Finally, reasoning and problem solving tasks from WRM are included.
