This is a whole class activity which is based on times tables calculations. The worksheet consists 12 uncompleted calculations and the box to sum-up all answers. Teacher’s job is to randomly generate the numbers which will be used in this activity. The player, who will end up with the largest possible sum, wins.

I love search and shades worksheets. The students are able to self-check by looking for the answer in the grid. Then, they shade the areas to create a design. I use this one to practise the order of operations. It consists of 20 questions at different levels of difficulty. Besides BODMAS, your students will have to know some basic facts about adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with negative integers and fractions. This is a great resource for students in KS3. Colouring is required and you will need a selection of 2 colours including black.

This is a geometric puzzle which challenge you to repeat the patterns without lifting the pen from the paper and tracing the same line more than once. Is there a way of knowing whether a puzzle is possible to complete? There is:) It’s called Euler walk or rule. Answers available. Enjoy!

How to practise mental maths skills with your class? Multiplying any 2-digit number by 11 is a fun and useful maths trick. To perform it, simply add the digits of the number together and then put this sum between the original two digits.

Puzzle-based learning? No worries - use this activity that promotes problem-solving skills in maths!
This puzzle is inspired by artist Piet Mondrian. The challenge is to divide a square in a way that will create the smallest possible difference between the area of the largest and the smallest rectangle. The rules are:
1 The square must be entirely covered by unique rectangles.
2 All rectangle edge lengths must be whole numbers.

There are only few weeks left in this academic year and you want to use them to plan engaging, non-standard lessons with experimenting elements. You probably didn’t really have the chance to think about this kind of planning earlier because of your scheme of work, exams and other important things. Here’s an idea for you!
The main steps of the project can be divided into the following:
Introduce the assignment which is to create a short video clip based on a topic of a student’s choice.
Decide on a storyline / individual shots / sequences and also a mood (this includes music!).
Create a storyboard and prepare the individual shots (or use appropriate software).
Organise the individual shots, edit the exposure time, add music, etc.
Share it on Instagram account (you can use Gramblr uploader).
ⓘ I know it’s a quite complex project, but how exciting! There is an easy to print version of this project ready to download.
ⓘ This idea is based on my own project - a short video clip, which you can see soon here.
Big thank you to @mmmmkacietravis (blog post) and @frannerd (youtube video) for the inspiration!
