This is a really good lesson aimed at getting the students to consider the evidence for life after death and to formulate their own opinion of what happens after you die. It asks the question: ‘What do you think happens after you die?’, it looks at possible evidence (including Near Death Experiences, Ghosts and Mediums), it also considers religious ideas about life after death. A really good lesson that will stretch and challenge your students. This resource also includes a starter and a h/w. It is aimed at KS3 but could easily be adapted for another key stage.

This resource is designed to be used with the Fantastic places SoW (in my shop), but it can be adapted to other SoW or to other fantastic places! As the students work through the unit they complete the passport to sum up what they have learned and add the information to the booklet. The passport also contains seven h/w tasks to be used throughout the unit.

This is a really interesting and well resourced lesson that investigates the Sahara desert and the challenges of living life in such a hostile environment, This lesson can be used as a one off (stand alone) or as part of a whole unit (such as my Fantastic Places unit, also available in my shop). This lesson can be a one off stand alone lesson or can be used as part of a ‘Fantastic Places’ unit (also available at my shop) It is a really interesting lesson that looks at the unique fascinating lives of one of the isolated tribes in Papua New Guinea. An important lesson as these people may be some of the last who are able to live their lives in this way. The students have really enjoyed this lesson whenever I have taught this lesson.

This lesson has been observed more than once as has consistently been rated as outstanding. It looks at The North Pole (the Arctic), it’s history, it’s future and what it is like to live there. This lesson uses the ‘Home and Away’ groups technique - where students are put into ‘home’ groups, then split up again to become experts in one topic(away groups), they then get together again into their ‘home’ group and teach the rest of their group what they have learned. This lesson includes a bell activity, a starter, main activities, plenary and homework. An interesting and important lesson.

This can be used as a stand alone lesson about Easter Island or it can be used in the Fantastic places unit of work (also available in my shop). This lesson looks at Easter Island and how the greed and stupidity of it’s people nearly destroyed the island. This is an important story and can teach us lessons about the world we live in today. The students will get a chance to practice their analytical skills and will have a deeper look at the history of Easter Island. The final task gets the students to use empathy to illustrate the key turning points in the islands history. This lesson includes a bell activity, a starter, main activities, plenary and homework. It also features differentiated activities for the less able. A fun and colourful lesson.

This can be used as a stand alone lesson about Rio (or Brazil) or it can be used in the Fantastic places unit of work (also available in my shop). This lesson looks at Rio and the diversity, colour and inequality that exist in this amazing city. The students will get a chance to practice their geographical writing and will have a deeper look at the Rio carnival. The final task gets the students to use empathy to explain what it would be like to visit Rio. This lesson includes a bell activity, a starter, main activities, plenary and homework. A fun and colourful lesson.

This lesson can be used as a one off lesson or as part of a larger unit of work. I use it as part of a longer unit called ‘Fantastic Places’ (available as a SoW in my shop) which is essentially an introductory unit to geography. This lesson looks at the wonderful African wilderness of Madagascar and gets the students to investigate two of it’s most famous residents: Lemurs and Sharks. A fun and informative lesson that will leave the students thirsting for more (geography!)

This can be used as a stand alone lesson or as the introductory lesson in the Fantastic places SoW. It looks at the amazing India city of Hampi and launches an investigation as to why the city is surrounded by boulders. The students will investigate two ideas: Science and Religion and will need to explain why they believe one over the other. They will also be encouraged to create their own original explanation. A fun lesson with lots to do.

This lesson looks at the various Christian attitudes towards homosexuality. It investigates three different perspectives (Liberal Protestant, Evangelical Christian and Roman Catholic) and why they believe in this view. This lesson can be used for KS3 or KS4. There is a model answer included (this is based on the GCSE Edexcel SoW) but can easily adapted for another SoW. Students then look at a flawed model answer and are asked to improve it. They are also encouraged to consider their own views, why they hold those views and whether their views mirror one of the religious perspectives studied in the lesson. Overall a fantastic lesson.

This powerpoint (with activities) can be adapted to your own personal use or planner design. It is designed to help tutor and pupils to ensure they are using their homework/study planners correctly and effectively. It also helps to promote consistency and efficiency and help to improve h/w recording across our school. This was a problem at my school until I created this presentation, and now it is much much better!

This lesson looks at the issues surrounding quality of life and sanctity of life and get the students to debate, discuss and vote on life and death issues. -It starts with a classic balloon debate (which is both enjoyable and challenging) -It goes on to look at a real life case study of Diane Pretty -It continues with a deep discussion of four real life case studies -It concludes by looking at why human life is so sacred A highly recommended lesson that has always been rated as outstanding or excellent.

This can be a one off lesson or can be part of a wider scheme of work looking at identity and belonging. This lesson looks at the issue of identity and what makes you who you are. It discusses three famous world leaders and looks at a case study of a young lady. This is used to get the students to reflect on who they are and who they want to be,

A terrific lesson that encourages students to think about the nature of happiness and why it can be so difficult to achieve. It looks at happiness in different situations, and how we can work at being happier ourselves. An interesting and important lesson.

An outstanding lesson that covers several other world religions in an interesting yet challenging way. There are a number of useful activities here that can be used or adapted for other lessons. A really good starter for learning about Eastern Religions. UPDATE - Based on the feedback from reviews the activities have been updated and a video has been added. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

This is a game based on the classic 1980s children’s TV show mallet’s mallet. It contains hundreds of words that can be used to start the game and blank cards so you can make more of your own. You will however have to make your own mallet! (I use a newspaper rolled up and taped!) If you are unsure how to play you can always look it up on youtube!
