All of my activities are created on an Acer Chromebook in a series of Posts on a Google Blog. I know nothing of computer coding but started with one piece of free coding and have been adapting that by incorporating additional free coding. They are created as TEMPLATES for online interactive resources. So, if you have a blog, or want to create one to try this concept out, simply copy and paste the text in the downloaded text file as a NEW POST and PUBLISH.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE [comparing two pictures] [2]

I came across a piece of coding which allows you to input two pictures. A blue button appears in the centre of the pictures which you can move to the left [allowing you to see the complete top picture] or to the right [allowing you to see the complete bottom picture]. What it does do is allow you to compare two pictures quickly. My first thought were a set of “spot the difference” pictures I had and have used before but secondly was a set of “then and now pictures” I found and I will add these later. The original activity can be found at https://learnanytime-mycreations.blogspot.com/2023/09/spot-difference-comparing-two-pictures-2.html The activities are meant to be fun, flexible and differentiated. They are meant to develop transferable skills and be cross curricular. As a result they hopefully reinforce small chunks of information and give a better understanding of a topic. I have combined two sets of coding here to create an activity which links maths and English. Clicking on a series of “action verbs” creates a sum which learners can work out on a calculator. In version [1b] the same set of “action verbs” creates a sum which learners can work out but without the use of the “=” button. If you download the coding you can very simply change the numbers used and or the pictures to suit any topic. So, if you have a blog, or want to create one to try this concept out, simply copy and paste the text in the downloaded text file as a NEW POST and PUBLISH. They are created as TEMPLATES for you to adapt and add your own content. The screenshots can be downloaded simply as worksheets. This is a follow up to the SPOT THE DIFFERENCE activities using the same coding where two pictures on top of each other can be revealed by the simple drag of a button. I found a series of pictures showing the same scene at different dates. Some of these could be of historical interest. This coding has much more to offer. Who am I [famous leaders] [1b] version 2 adds an aspect of differentiation to the activity. By inserting pictures into a 3x3 grid and then taking a screenshot of the result I can now insert that into a format I already had. This now becomes an identification activity as the 9 pictures can be of any topic grouping thus expanding its capability. All of the pictures and all of the text can be replaced with your own content. All of my activities are created on an Acer Chromebook in a series of Posts on a Google Blog. Zooming Descriptions [Who Am I?] [1b], using the “zooming” coding I simply chose, in this case a person, and googled a number of simple facts which become the “zooming descriptions” with a picture as the final clue. The possibilities for this simple type of activity could provide endless learning for all levels of ability.
