As they read and understand the words and their meanings they can then “un-colour” the words when they decide they “know” that set of notes and move on to the next. An obvious use of being able to compare two pictures was to use a compass rose as one picture to help learners understand the points of the compass. An adaptation of a previous activity with the testing element added by incorporating a radio button quiz using coded numbers. Obviously any pictures which could have a monetary value could be used creating a cross curricular dimension to what would basically be a maths activty. I came across a piece of coding which allows you to input two pictures. A blue button appears in the centre of the pictures which you can move to the left [allowing you to see the complete top picture] or to the right [allowing you to see the complete bottom picture]. What it does do is allow you to compare two pictures quickly. The concept originally came from Google but taken up by Richard Osman’s House of Games. I have adapted it slightly to create levels of differentiation. In esscence it is an activity based around a “process of elimination”. Counting with Blue Dots [pandas] is a simple activity based upon a 30x10 invisible grid which can be placed over any picture. In this case a strange picture of pandas and a dog. By clicking in one of the 300 frames a BLUE DOT can appear [hence the counting element]. The quiz part is really means of differentiation and extension.
