Alphabet and Blend Cards: Activities and Games to Teach Phonics while having Fun
DESCRIPTION
Knowing the sounds that letters make is the backbone of early literacy. Add these cards and games to your literacy programme and see how quickly your students begin to learn their letter sounds and transfer it into their reading and writing.
You will find in this packet an A4-sized alphabet card with letters and fun images that start with matching sounds. The alphabet card shows lowercase and uppercase letters so children can learn to identify and match them.
The included A4 blend card shows double consonant blends with a matching image that starts with the blend. It also shows digraphs (in blue) and tri-blends in red.
This resource pack also contains suggestions for games and ways they can be used in the classroom.
Your students will love playing the games, and you will be amazed at how quickly they learn their alphabet sounds and blends and start to apply them to their reading and writing.

This 81-page nonfiction unit includes reading comprehension, writing, and science activities.
This unit includes a pre- and post-assessment activity and a KWL chart so your children can map their learning.
The packet includes reading passages with comprehension questions, wall display resources, topic vocabulary activities, and more.
It will keep your students motivated and engaged as they learn. Gather some books about owls that the children can access to learn more about these fantastic creatures.

Space Thematic Unit: Differentiated Literacy, Math, Science and STEM Activities

Branley for older children and “Roaring Rockets” by Tony Mitton and Ant Parker for younger children. If you don’t have a copy of the books there are videos available on YouTube where your kids can hear and watch the books being read.
Your little astronauts will have lots of fun! Watch your science lesson come to life as they make their own rockets and complete the Math, literacy, science and art/craft activities. Also included are two non fiction printable booklets and lots of hands on activities that your kids will love!

An information poster activity - ‘What’s in a Space Suit’ which is pitched at two different levels (junior and senior)
What’s in a Space Suit labelling activity - A fun and educational labelling activity which helps to develop reading comprehension skills (differentiated for younger and older students)
A Space themed 100s board with suggestions for activities and games to strengthen numeracy skills.
Touchdown Challenge STEM activity. This activity challenges students to think like an engineer and design a spacecraft that would land safely on the moon.
Make a Handprint Rocket - Art Activity - supports children to develop their fine motor skills and use their imaginations to design and make a rocket.
Spacewalk Art Activity - this activity can be modified for younger and older students. Older students can use technology to support their design.
Moon Picture Activity - this activity can be modified for younger and older students.
Name Rocket Craft - this activity can be modified for younger and older students.
Design a straw rocket - Science/Technology focus.
Make a Balloon Rocket STEM activity - Science/Technology. Older children can work in groups or pairs to complete this activity. Younger students could work with the teacher/or perhaps with an older buddy class. Students are encouraged to work together collaboratively to build the rocket, and then inquire into how the rocket is moving and answer the follow up questions.

Learning Objective Guided Reading Cards for Fluent Readers.
These Guided Reading Cards can be used with groups of students when they are working with you during daily guided reading lessons.
I have used these cards with guided reading groups for many years and found that they are great for keeping the children focused exactly on what it is they are learning.
At the beginning of the lesson I read the card for the week with the students and talk about what it will look like when they are doing it. As the students read, I notice when they are demonstrating the skill and bring their attention back to the objective.
