KS2 Literacy 'The Butterfly Lion' by Michael Morpurgo unit of work (21 lessons)
A unit of work (21 lessons) based around the text 'The Butterfly Lion' by Michael Morpurgo. Whole class guided reading and writing focus with high level differentiated questions. Prediction before beginning the book (style of Michael Morpurgo books) and a lot of focused questions whilst reading each chapter that can be suited to target specific individuals / groups of children in your class. A range of fiction and non fiction incidental writing opportunities are planned for each day including diary entries in role, a discussion, argument, letters, playscript, hot-seating, newspaper articles, non-chronological report, recounts, book review and researching South Africa, Malaria and Adonis Blue butterflies. Lessons can be adapted to suit Years 4, 5 and 6.

Year 5 Numeracy / Maths test *New Curriculum objectives
I have created an end of year Numeracy test with 56 questions covering the new objectives for the Year 5 New Curriculum. The questions include Number and place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, measures, geometry and statistics. This test could also be taken at the beginning of the year to show what children already know or during the year to assess learning.

A range of incidental writing including storytelling, character description, play script, diary entries, descriptive setting, fantasy story and a non-chronological report. I used this with Year 4 but can easily be adapted for Y3, Y5 or Y6. Individual lesson attached graded 'Oustanding' in performance management observations and by Ofsted.
