This simple but effective resource contains a set of 10 high quality images, in a mind map powerpoint format, with the labels for the 5 senses located around the outside of the picture with a space to write and then the 10 images full screen on each slide for easy printing in a separate powerpoint presentation. The resource is designed for either printing on A3 or otherwise A4 paper, or to project onto the whiteboard for a whole-class activity. This resource can be used in countless ways and at many different levels. Whilst is is suggested that this is used in secondary with English Language GCSE and at a National Curriculum KS3 level, it can be easily adapted for use in primary schools. For example: - Split the class into small groups with three or two people per group. At the start of the lesson, give each group a sheet of paper with a picture on, and then tell students to describe the picture and begin to develop a story or descriptive piece of writing. Then, as ideas are shared, the students can begin to make a plan, and by the end of the lesson, students should each have written their own creative writing piece. - Do a collaborative class planning session! At the start of the lesson, the sheets can be spread around the classroom, and then students can each write one idea per sheet. At the end of the lesson, these can be shared as a class. - Use the sheets as a homework task, where students are told to find write, for example, a newspaper article about the place shown on the A3 sheet. - A piece of coloured card could be given to each student where they write one sentence, and this could be turned into a wall display or hanging 'washing line' classroom display.
