A full SOW (appox. 7 lessons) covering the basics on this set product which explores all areas of the A Level framework: media language, audience, representations, theory and exam style questions (not SAMS).
A two hour lesson which introduces and explores Judith Butler’s gender performance theory. This is a set theory for Eduqas A Level media but relevant to all study of media representations. The lessons focuses on The Jinx but these could be replaced with any relevant media product.

Component 1 Section A GCSE Media Studies
Approx. 3/4 lessons based this set product and the Representation of gender and ethnicity for Eduqas GCSE media studies. Including SAMS exam style questions and mark scheme and a comparison to an unseen modern film poster.
A two hour lesson which explores a range of representations theories: Stuart Hall, Van Zoonen, David Gauntlett and Gerbner. These are set theories for Eduqas A Level media and the lesson is based around the set product Tide, but is relevant to all study of media representations and could be adapted for teaching of any relevant media product.
Approximately 3-5 lessons on nature poetry which is a subtle introduction to 'the Romantics' - this works well as a step into AQA GCSE poetry! Included are analysis and creative tasks aimed at higher ability year 8 but could be done with any KS3 class. Enjoy!

This is a half term (approx 4/5 weeks) scheme of work which introduces the concept of media studies and media representations, some key terminology from the theoretical framework and media theory. There is reference to some of the set products but also wider media products are used to develop unseen analysis skills. The scheme begins to build textual analysis skills and focuses on an exam based question from the SAMS material.
Can be used as a classroom display or handout/revision aid for students. This is a bank of active verbs for writing about, and analysing, media products and a bank of 'sentence starters' to help students integrate media theory into their analysis of media products. This is aimed at A Level media students and based on the Eduqas theoretical framework and set theories.
