A poster outlining a checklist to remind students what they need to include in an analytical paragraph. The points in this checklist have been carefully considered and tested alongside the AQA GCSE specification and hits every box in the mark scheme. At first glace you might think this similar to PEE/PEEL/PETAL however I found my students stuck to those structures rigidly and without meaning so we use METAL as a checklist only - they can use it in any order and it is purposefully ‘vague’ to allow student interpretations and ideas to shine through.
