A short 3 lesson unit analysing Saint-Saens Dance Macabre. Perfect for Halloween time! This unit consists of 3 PowerPoint slides and accompanying worksheets. Lesson 1 - Introduction. Discussing Henry Cazalis’ poem, making musical predictions and listening to the piece for the first time. Lesson 2 - Understanding Musical Feature. Pupils will analyse the music in more detail and carry out a listening task with 12 questions. Lesson 3 - Themes. Pupils will learn about the ghost and skeleton theme. They will then compose their own Halloween theme on classroom instruments (whichever you have available).
