Pupils cut out the revision cards and fold them down the middle dotted line so they have the questions on one side and the answers on the other. The cards include ecosystems, rainforests and hot deserts. The case studies I have used are Malaysia for rainforests and the Thar Desert but the cards are easily edited to reflect any different case studies.

Understanding Ecotourism

(1)
This lesson starts with a tourism recap using a domino activity. Then pupils are taught about what ecotourism is and pupils then assess two real examples to determine how sustainable they think each one is. They then have to design their own eco tourist resort to demonstrate their understanding. The task is differentiated so that lower ability pupils can use a list of characteristics they can choose from. There is also a mark scheme for pupils to self or peer assess their designs.

Earthquakes - factors affecting impacts

(0)
This lesson contains differentiated resources for pupils to understand the significance of factors affecting the damage done in an earthquake. Pupils start by guessing the magnitude of an earthquake from the magnitude and a photo. This is to get them thinking about the role of magnitude in fatalities. Pupils then create a hypothesis to predict the relationship between magnitude and fatalities. There is data and a graph outline (for lower ability pupils) to draw a scatter graph to see what the link is. Pupils then think about the other factors that affect earthquake impacts and create a significance star to show which factors they think are most important. They then write a paragraph to justify their decisions. Lastly there is a post it note based plenary so that you can assess their understanding.

In addition there is a visual hexagons task which asks pupils to explain various factors and their influence on population size and structure which would make a good homework task.
