Used each of these lessons during science week in different departments
New GCSE - Physics paper 1 Flashcards
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Physics paper 1 Flashcards

(0)
These flashcards are based on fact recall for Physics paper 1. They are aimed at combined science students, but easily adapted for separate science students. They are a great activity for class, homework or extended days. Relevant for both year 10 and year 11 students.
New GCSE - Speed
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Speed

(0)
Lesson looking at using the speed equation with differentiated questions throughout. I took the students outside to time themselves walking, jogging and running different distances. They then calculated their speeds back int eh classroom (you could then get them to draw a bar graph of their results as practice for drawing graphs!). Homework in this lesson is a reverse crossword (a crossword in which the students have to think what the clues would be for each word) Learning Objectives: Recall the equation and formula triangle to calculate speed Calculate distance, time and speed using the equation
New GCSE - Biology practical planning
ls6372ls6372

New GCSE - Biology practical planning

(0)
This activity assists students in planning selected Biology required practicals. Each practical has an overview with an equipment list as well as a student work sheet with cues. Suitable for use with years 9-11.

KS3 Investigations

(0)
These three lessons were used with Year 7s at the beginning of the year to get them used to the process in an investigation, however they could be done with any year group (or whenever you need a ‘filler leson’ throughout the year!). Gets the students thinking about variables and constructing methods. Differentiated throughout.

New GCSE - Centre of Mass

(0)
Lesson covering the centre of mass and working out the centre of mass of regular and irregular objects. Differentiated throughout and the practical involving finding the centre of mass of irregular shapes. Learning Objectives: Describe what is meant by the centre of mass of a body and how to find it Explain why objects topple over Explain how to find the centre of mass of an irregular object

Blast Furnace

(0)
Lesson looking at the blast furnace and using displacement to extract the iron. Includes the experiment using a matchstick to extract iron (instructions in the lesson). Has a fantastic (in my opinion) plenary using Lego characters to answer questions. The students collect different strips of paper with different questions and Lego parts to construct a Lego character, the students loved it! DIfferentiated questions throughout. Learning Objectives: Describe the process of extracting iron Describe how carbon is used in a blast furnace to remove metal from its ore Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the process
