Yr5/6 English MTP for Kenuke's Kingdom

This is a 30 lesson (half termly) MTP for Upper Key Stage 2, based on Michael Morpurgo’s Kensuke’s Kingdom. The planning is divided into three stages. Stage One is really about reading as a reader, getting to know the text. Stage Two is about looking at the writer’s craft, studying the text and features of particular writing genres. Stage Three is about planning, writing and editing, based on the author’s craft and various genres. You will see that the planning goes through three main writing journeys, with some additional short writes along the way. Many of the activites don’t require resources as they are either using the text or written straight into English books. I haven’t attached other required resources as they are examples of text types etc. and you would need to source these depending on your children’s abilities. I have used this planning with excellent outcomes with several of my classes.
