This is the final lesson for my year 9 tourism lesson. It’s a simple lesson where students use all that they have learnt about tourism to decide whether they thing that tourism is overall good or bad, taking into account locations.

This is an interview lesson that I recently has which was gratefully received! There was a compliment for the delivery and the quality of my resources! The lesson is a double (2 hour) lesson which looks at eco-tourism in Costa Rica. Students first locate Costa Rica before learning what eco-tourism is. Then, students design an eco-friendly hotel for Costa Rica and try to advertise them!

This is the 8th lesson of my year 9 tourism unit. The lesson looks at tourism in a HIC. First students locate Dubai and look at why people like to holiday there. From this students learn the impacts of tourism in Dubai before designing their very own hotel for Dubai.

Lesson 7 for my year 9 tourism unit. This lesson looks at the effects of tourism in in LIC- focusing on tourism in The Gambia. The students first locate The Gambia and learn why people like to visit the area. From this, the students weigh up the pro’s and con’s of tourism here using a card sort before they take part in some decision making!

This is the 6th lesson for my tourism unit. The lesson begins with locating Cancun before looking at why people like to visit it. Following from this, the students identify the pro’s and con’s of tourism in Cancun through writing how different people feel about tourism there (i.g the local people, visitors, hotel manager and the president of Mexico)

One of my favourite lessons looking at factories in China, focusing on the inside of one of China’s Foxcon (Apple) factories. Students begin by looking at how many of their clothes/belongings are from China. After writing down their objectives, students learn the terms NIC and globalisation before homing in on Foxcon.

This is the third lesson of my China unit. The lesson begins by allowing students to identify their differences between their own school day to a school day in China. Following from this the students have a chance to write letters to a pen pal in China to discuss their school days. There is also an exam question activity too.

The second lesson for my year 8 China lesson which looks at the population density and distribution in China. The students have a true or false starter activity before writing their objectives. Then they learn the terms density and distribution before completing their worksheets. The lesson ends with plenary.

This is an exciting unit of work that I have created for my year 7 geographers. Each lesson they look at a new location around the globe and look at why it is considered an impossible place to live. Each lesson is full of varied, differentiated activities which my students loved! This unit also includes a homework/ project activity, as well as an assessment sheet. Enjoy!
