Easy Spanish worksheet to support students writing a short paragraph describing a friend, including desde hace and a description. Starts with vocabulary to fill in then works on sentences on the first sheet. On the second sheet there is an example paragraph with a gapped translation and phrases to find which will support students in writing their own version. This scaffolded sheet should support students to work from words up to a paragraph with minimal teacher input so could be used for cover, homework or simply for when you need students to be able to work independently in class. I made the sheet for my Foundation GCSE class (who need support and don’t like too much challenge) but it could be used with confident near beginners too.

Two worksheets aimed at beginner year 7 French on the topic of family and introducing the vocab for family members. The grammar focus is on mon/ma and j’ai to form sentences. There are optional challenge questions but the idea would be that students could complete this work independently and without too much support. It would be good for homeowrk, to send home to complete or for when you need a quiet 20 minutes in class for whatever reason! I have aimed this a middle ability set. The first sheet is to build up from single items of vocab (family members) to sentences then on to a short paragraph. The idea is they will make fewer mistakes with writing as it is very scaffolded. The second sheet is reading comprehension with the aim of them being able to use the reading to help them write their own piece using ideas taken from the examples they read.

Work follows on an example answer for a 90 word question and then students write their own after picking out chunks and phrases from the example. A 150 word writing is the final task. On 4 sides so can be printed easily two pages to a side and on reverse to save paper!

Sheet 1: basic vocab, translation into English then translation of VERY similar sentences into French followed by a bsic sentence builder. No et Moi model essay It’s question 10.1 from November 2021 paper I wrote the essay myself to share with my students / follow up some recent mock exams we have done. I’ll use some textivate exercises to play with it and do some translation on it too. I have taken photos of the essay plans I wrote, I’ll look at that with my students first so they can see how I got to the essay.

Students use the sentence builder to write sentences and make suggestions about going out. First ex is completely sourced from the sentence builder, the next ex is similar but has some easy additions from pre-learnt material (days of the week, family members). On the second page there are 5 model conversations suggesting activities and accepting / declining. Students pick out what is suggested, when etc. Finally they are invited to write their own similar to the examples.

A clear test set out in 5 sections; conditional endings, regular verbs, irregular verbs, translate sentences into English, translate sentences into French. Could use the first page as a diagnostic with sixth formers before teaching the conditional. Vocab in the translations is from the topic of volunteering. Answer sheet also given so that you can display it on screen for swap and mark or for them to fill in correct answers, learn it and then do a retest.

An easy sheet with basic vocabulary to express what you do on the internet and how often. Start by filling in the English for some vocabulary then fill in the Spanish. There is a sentence builder which I use to do a few dictation activities (ie I say a sentence out loud and they use the sentence builder to write it down) then the students translate some sentences into English using the sentence builder. Next the students use the sentence builder to translate sentences into Spanish. As a follow up I ask students to write a para about their own internet use.
