Goldilocks and the Three Bears / DT / Food / Yummy Porridge! This unit can be used alongside the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It provides opportunities for the children to use food technology to create a healthy food product suitable for a character and link it to their storytelling. Planning included! Children investigate the characteristics and properties of different varieties of ingredients to add different flavours to a basic dish – porridge – compare 5 recipes and develop vocabulary to describe the appearance, taste, smell and texture. They learn basic food preparation techniques to design and make a yummy porridge! Includes vocabulary sheet. A Bingo game that will encourage a lot of discussions as you play :) There are 3 different boards, each with matching sets of pictures with names, group names (insect, not insect), descriptions. Playing: Children attempt to match each animal with a picture card; match additional sets of cards, wherever it is an insect or not an insect; and then guess the minibeasts when reading the description cards. Children can check their answers - answer sheet for each bingo board included.
