This resource is a pptx. designed to develop the students’ mathematical skills that are usually needed in a Physics course. This resource is aimed mainly at students who start their GCSE or IGCSE course. Some slides, however, can also be used with younger KS3 students. The presentation contains notes and tasks on the following:
use of a calculator (fractions, powers, reciprocals and switching from fractions to decimals)
rounding numbers
scientific notation
significant figures
rearranging equations
direct and inverse proportionality
calculating gradients
A couple of external videos are linked too.
There is enough content to cover a double period lesson (although this varies greatly based on the ability of the group and the duration of each lesson).
I have included a pdf. copy of the file for those who prefer pdf.s
Teacher’s notes (and answers to the most challenging tasks) are included in the notes section under each slide.
