Expanding and Factorising Single Brackets Game

(0)
A set of differentiated cards involving Expanding and Factorising a single bracket. This activity works really well as a paired match-up activity or as a Quiz Quiz Trade. Answers are on the back of each card. I have included two versions of this activity, one using the Grid Method, the other without a particular method.

Calculating with Powers and Roots Worksheet

(0)
Differentiated worksheet that explores calculating with powers and roots. There is an emphasis on understanding with this worksheet. Students first understand what is mean by ‘squaring a number’, and are asked to represent this geometrically. Students are then introduced to the idea of a root and the relationship between powers and roots. Students are then given an opportunity to develop their fluency, and later their problem solving skills.

Algebraic Fractions Connect 4 Activity

Algebraic Fractions Connect 4 Activity

(0)
Differentiated Connect 4 Activity great for High Ability KS3, KS4 and a revision/recap activity for KS5. There are three levels of difficulty included: adding and subtracting algebraic fractions with the same denominators; adding and subtracting algebraic fractions with different denominators; adding and subtracting algebraic fractions where students will be required to expand brackets and simplify. Answers are included on the reverse to allow students to check their answers whilst playing the game. The answers are intentionally mixed up to ensure students do not rely on the answers. Tips: It may be helpful to get students to pair up with someone who wishes to work on the same difficulty as them. To ensure full engagement at all times ensure both students answer the question and only use the answers to check. I used this resource for an observation and it worked really well. Hope you find this resource useful!
