This is a single or double period lesson for KS2 and KS3 students which teaches pencil technique and the use of Atmospheric Perspective in Art. This resource can be used for KS3 students. In art, especially painting, aerial perspective refers to the technique of creating an illusion of depth by depicting distant objects as paler, less detailed, and usually bluer than near objects.
When painting or drawing a landscape, it is important to pay attention to the change in value and colour of the composition as the eye moves from the foreground to the back of the scene. The difference in value is very important to create the impression of depth. Students will have studied perspective in KS2. Future learning will use the concept and painting skill taught in more advanced landscape painting projects.
