A full lesson based on the new AQA (B5.7) SOW. The lesson covers the skin, nose and trachea/bronchi as the first line of defence. A differentiated question grid is used to apply knowledge and to conduct AFL (answers included). The lesson then moves onto the white blood cells and their role in phagocytosis, antibody and antitoxin production. Students then apply their knowledge to a PP question (answers included). The plenary is based on students reflecting upon their progress against the learning objectives.

A full lesson based on the OCR-A SOW but could be used for others. This lesson was delivered to an A2 class but the content is quite simple making it suitable for AS alike. This lesson covers genetic and environmental factors within inheritance, using chlorosis in plants and body mass in animals as examples for the latter. The role of sexual reproduction in genetic variation is then studied, alongside homozygous and heterozygous inheritance and continuous/discontinuous variation. A range of activities (including 2 past paper questions) are used to apply knowledge/check for understanding at certain stages within the lesson. Timers are included to promote pace and all answers are included via animation. Self/peer marking follows each activity.

A full lesson based on the new AQA B1.1 SOW. The lesson covers converting units, light microscopes, electron microscopes, calculating magnification/image size, and magnification vs. resolution. Answers to written activities are incorporated into the slides. A practical activity is included where students observe cheek cells and calculate their size - commercial slides can be used to save time or alternatively students can prepare their own. In the case of the latter, this content could fill two 1h lessons.

A full lesson based on the new AQA (C5.2) SOW but could be used for others. This lesson has been prepared for a low to mid range ability. Displacement reactions are introduced through the starter and a short talk, students are prompted to take note of key text highlighted in red. There is then a short scaffolded activity where students must predict whether or not a reaction will occur by referring to the reactivity series. There is then a teacher led demonstration of such reactions, during which students must complete a table handout. Following a review of observations students are taught about carbon and hydrogens position within series during a short talk. Students then apply themselves to questions based on the content of the lesson. The plenary involves students reflecting upon their progress against the learning objectives. All answers are included through animation facilitating self/peer correction during questioning. Timers are included to promote pace. Instruction for the lab demonstration are also included.
