A lyric sheet for a simple song to be sung to the tune of 10 little indians. It can be adapted to count any noun of your choice, and is catchy.

Jobs with pictures labelled in English and in Spanish so learners can play pelmanism naming the job in the language they are looking for.

A revision of the present perfect, with 2 tasks: review what you have done since you won the lottery, and write to a friend saying what you have done so far to get ready for Christmas.

A big Spanish adaptation of the story, and a small one to print off for children to take home.

The learners put different vocab items (furniture) on different floors in their buildings, describe their building to a friend, and look at the end of the activity to see if they have both made accurate copies of their friend's building.

There is a chore or activity attached to each day. This is a challenging but rewarding song.

This is a nice craft activity or simply a finger rhyme. There is a lovely version of this song by Grupo Encanto on Cantajuego Volume 4. You can see it on the 2nd half of the video linked above.

Chu Chu wa is a marching song with actions that become increasingly sillier. The tune is available on youtube (I recommend Grupo Encanto), and the children can draw actions before performing song as a reward at the end.

This turns into a nice book when copied onto both sides of one sheet. We learn that the word for 'this' in Spanish is different for masculine and feminine words. Then we revise recognising masculine and feminine words and get the sentences correct together. In the books it is pencil first, then pen, then test each other on the sentences using the pictures as prompts.

Colour in the clothes with the words indicated. Cover them with the people, and see if you can remember who has what.

Practice remembering the subject pronouns, learn the verb hablar and some useful phrases that include this word, match languages to countries in Europe and around the world, conduct a question and answer session with friends as themselves and role-playing other people, revise the lesson with excercises and animated slides.

In lockdown 2020 I set out to create an accessible Spanish course for beginners by making one video lesson per day for 100 days. The complete set of 100 videos is now available on YouTube, and to compliment them I made notes outlining what I thought were the key learning points from each day. I include these notes as a PDF for your students. Most of the people who use my lessons are older, but there are some school age children that I know who subscribe and they have been really successful in learning to speak Spanish. I believe that learning languages doesn’t have to be a formal thing. Learning languages is a natural thing. When you already have a language, the easiest way to learn a language and the most natural way to learn a language is to mix your new language with the one you already have. I create my resources in line with this view, which means I can optimize the amount of Spanish that learners are exposed to without compromising on understanding. This gives learners confidence to engage with Spanish and to speak Spanish. That is what I have found with my learners, and I hope you will find the same with your learners.

Learners need to place their treasure and hunt for it using coordinates. Clues can be given out using the hot, warm, cold system, which can then transform into a physical game in a large room.

Choose between a Christmas catch up letter in which you tell a friend what you have done this year, or an interview with a journalist about how winning the lottery has changed your life.

Lots of profesiones are strong cognates. Use this video to introduce some vocabulario de los profesiones to your estudiantes. Play the video with the sound only first, and use the pause button to give los estudiantes la oportunidad to answer the challenges, and then write their own. Encourage them to use español whenever they can. Much more slow, accessible Spanish available on Youtube. Search for "spanglish fantastico"

Students study words for family members - children, parents and siblings. They then study the verb tener, and talk to each other making statements and questions about possessions. They watch a video, then they practice a short dialogue in open and closed pairs asking, for example, "Do you have cousins?" "What are they called?" This is a very structured lesson, giving maximum guidance to less confident speakers of Spanish.
