Included in this resource is a Scheme of Work that details an overview for each lesson/WALT/links to assessment criteria. There is a PowerPoint for every lesson, a number of extracts from the novella, worksheets and resources. Students build on their understanding of plot, themes, characters and language with opportunities for debates on social and political issues and some drama. The activities are varied to include videos, music, reading and writing. The scheme begins with a lesson on ‘identity’ that is aimed to develop their understanding of a key theme within the play. This was working towards a writing assessment early on in the scheme based on AQA Language Paper 1, Question 5 and a reading assessment based on AQA GCSE English Literature Paper 2 Question 1. The Scheme of Work specifies the order of the lessons, which PowerPoint to use and the printouts/resources needed. ENJOY!

Included in this resource is a Scheme of Work, PowerPoints and ready-made resources for every lesson. I have tried to make the teaching of this paper more than just question practice but also about skills, top tips and pushing for those higher marks. The scheme begins with an overview of the paper and a session on an awareness of the period sources were written in. It then moves forward to Question 4, 2, 3 with links in between to Q5 with finally some key writing techniques. The SOW specifies which PowerPoint, print outs and any other resources you will need for the lesson. It is not completely finished so I am uploading the lessons in blocks of FIVE as I plan and teach them. Will all be uploaded by October half-term.

A completed table (double-sided A3) with comments on every poem for Author, Structure, Meaning, Imagery, Language and Effects on the reader.
Can be added to and used as a revision tool or when going through practice papers.
This a one-off lesson that would work well within a poetry unit. It is studying and analyzing the poem 'The Unknown Citizen' to prepare students to understand unseen texts. The lesson is focused on differentiation in terms of 'stretch and challenge'. I used this lesson for a top set Year 10 and it was extremely successful in challenging the whole groups as well as G&T individuals. Included in this is a PPT, Task Ladders (x4), a document of the poem and cards for designated groups- all you need to decide is which student needs to work on which skill. Enjoy!
