Music Element Help Cards

(0)
There are 14 cards in this file. Each card features information about a different element of music in a convenient size for tabletop reminders. I have made packs of all 14, hole-punched the corner and put them on a ring for students to study and used small picture frames to display these cards for reference. If you laminate them and tape them to tabletops or keyboard music stands, they last for ages! Mine are in their third year of usage at the moment. Elements included Tempo Dynamics Rhythms Articulations Symbols Structure Texture Bass Clef Notes Treble Clef Notes Time Signatures Sharp Key Signatures Flat Key Signatures Keyboard with Sharps Keyboards with Flats This product is in a compressed (ZIP) file. 4 Rhythm Games in 1

This is such a fun and colorful way to review rhythms for younger pupils! I have included 4 different activities, but you could probably expand the usage to more than that! Activity 1: Sight reading This is a powerpoint with 44 different rhythms using quarter notes and rests, eighth notes, and half notes. Each slide has a rhythm that can be displayed and is also played following a four-beat count-in. Activity 2: Writing Rhythms This activity is designed for pupils who are just beginning to write rhythms. Using the same rhythms as above, there is a printable worksheet that encourages developing 4/4 rhythms. As a bonus, students can perform their rhythms at the end! Activity 3: Cut and Mix Using the colorful owl rhythms, students can cut them out and re-arrange them to create a variety of different activities to support rhythm development. My students have used these cards as flashcards, as a starting point for drumming projects, and self-directed sight-reading, just to name a few! Activity 4: Rhythm Bingo There are 10 different bingo cards (and a blank one if you would prefer to have students write their own rhythms) included in this folder. Additionally, there is a powerpoint included that will play the rhythms for you (or a substitute teacher!) if you would prefer to walk around the classroom to support students. Students have a lot of fun playing rhythm bingo and enjoy the multiple ways to play. I hope that you enjoy practicing rhythms!

Music Vocabulary

This is a great reference tool for students who want to develop music-specific terminology. There are 8 pages of vocabulary defining words that are often used to describe structure, harmony, melody, rhythm, dynamics, articulation, tempo, texture, instruments, music history, and music technology. The same 8 pages are then copied for you twice to make this as adaptable to your lessons as possible; once with the terminology and no definitions and once with neither words or definitions. Hopefully, you find this as useful as I have for reinforcing music terminology.

With more schools being asked to go to digital learning platforms at the moment, here are the resources I have developed to work through with my students for the next few weeks. I hope you find them useful if you are looking for ways to engage your music students from a distance. I am lucky that my students already have one-to-one devices so I know that they all have access to an app store and the Internet for online submissions. I have designed 6 assignments to use in conjunction with Music Maker Jam as an introduction to easy creation and arranging of pop music. It is a free app to download initially but has the option for in-app purchases, just so you are aware. I needed an alternative to Garageband for my students as not all of them have Macs/iPads. I’ve worked through all of the lessons using this app, but you might find a different app more suitable for your needs. I am not receiving any benefits from using this app. I just needed something quick and easy for my students to use. Please feel free to adapt, use, and share during this difficult time. Wishing you all the best! Stay safe and keep making music! :-)
