The arithmetic tests focus on fundamental mathematical operations, assessing students’ fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These tests offer a range of skill-based questions that cover a variety of problem-solving scenarios, ensuring students’ mastery of core mathematical concepts.
The reasoning tests, on the other hand, challenge students to apply their mathematical knowledge in real-world contexts. These tests foster critical thinking, logical reasoning, and mathematical reasoning skills. Students are encouraged to analyze, deduce, and solve complex problems, enhancing their ability to think mathematically and make connections between different mathematical concepts.

These 6 differentiated worksheets are designed to help Year 2 and Year 3 pupils learn more about and practise adding 2 2-digit numbers together. The exercises are suitable for all abilities and will help children learn or practise the tens and ones/units method.
The method is illustrated in the first example, by breaking down the numbers into tens and ones/units in order to work out the answers.
The first 2 worksheets focus on using the method to add, where the numbers do not cross 10. The next 2 worksheets use numbers that cross 10 and the last 2 worksheets focus on adding numbers that cross 10 and also 100.
