Comparing Macbeth and Lady Macbeth

(0)
A series of 6 fully resourced lessons exploring the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Uses images from the Patrick Stewart version and links to YouTube clips. Lots of guidance and scaffolding/sentence starters to help students analyse and explore the difference in language used between the two characters. Extracts provided on worksheets with original Shakespeare next to a modern translation to help students access the language. Some more challenging activities too, including reading an extract from a literary article. Students have always enjoyed and engaged well with this sequence of lessons at both KS3 and KS4.
An Inspector Calls character cards

An Inspector Calls character cards

I designed this as an introduction lesson for my Year 10s before telling them anything about An Inspector Calls. They each got a set of little character scenario cards with accompanying activities (to record on the A3 sheet) and as an extra challenge, were asked to try and match the quote to the character/scenario. The students loved it and it led to some great class discussions. A perfect way to introduce the characters, theme and plot of the play!

A booklet of character profile pages for all of the characters from An Inspector Calls using images from the recent BBC adaptation which students (in my experience) really enjoy and appreciate seeing them linked in resources. Can be used as a revision activity for students to complete, or as originally, used to record first impressions from Act One. Prints lovely as a booklet.

I've created a set of 20 posters displaying key quotes from 'Romeo and Juliet' featuring corresponding images from the Luhrmann film to help my students learn and revise! Each quote depicts who it's said by and when in the play it's said. Created on Publisher (A3 template) so easy to add your own quotes if needed.

AQA Power and Conflict comparison carousel

(0)
I designed this lesson after marking mock exams so students were given feedback and this lesson aimed to address their weaknesses. There are some sample comparative responses to Remains and War Photographer where student discuss good and bad responses and try to extend them. They then complete a carousel - teacher places a poem at each station and students compare it to a poem of their choice. just a brief PQA on a piece of sugar paper. Works well as they move round as they can respond to other student answers.

AQA Power and Conflict - analysing a quote

I created this resource to encourage my Year 11 students to analyse quotes from the Poetry cluster in more detail. The worksheet could easily be adapted to any quote, could also be set as a homework task. I have used this multiple times and have always been impressed with how detailed student responses become, they can then apply this to their extended poetry responses.

AQA English Language Paper 1 Fiction (for Sporty/low ability boys)

(2)
I (painstakingly, from scratch!) designed this for my boy heavy class to help engage them with the AQA Language Fiction Paper. It takes an extract from a story about a young boy interested in football (an easy read text) and I've created AQA exam style questions on it. As you can tell, I designed it with current sporting events at the time in mind, but could easily be adapted. Hope you find this useful!
