Cell Memory Game Black and White

(0)
This is a black and white memory game focused on cells. Students need to match the picture and word with the definition. Cell organelles, states of osmosis, four eukaryotic kingdoms, two prokaryotic kingdoms and specialized cells are covered. There are 42 pairs for a total of 84 cards. You can make smaller games to best suit your class needs. It can also be used to make studying flashcards. The cards are square and saved as a pdf. By adjusting your page count per printed page you can adjust the size of your cards. I suggest laminating them and keeping them year after year. I use one set per lab table. So I printed 7 sets. You can have the students compete within a single table or between groups. These are the pairs in the memory game: General Animal Cell General Plant Cell General Fungus Cell General Protist Cell (euglena) Nucleus Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Lysosome Peroxisome Ribosome Golgi Apparatus Flagella Cilia Microvilli Special Animal Cells (4 pairs) Animal and Plant Osmosis cells (6 pairs) Special Plant Cells (3 pairs) Special Fungus cells (2 pairs) Special Protist cells (3 pairs) Prokaryotes (2 pairs) Sex cells Endocytosis and exocytosis *All artwork is hand drawn by me and available in color or black & white in a separate listing. * I have a color cell memory game available in a separate listing.

Taxonomy Classification Bundle: Power Point and Chart with Key

(0)
Taxonomy is a system of classification used by scientists to organize organisms. The power point goes over the taxonomic levels and the main characteristics of the three domains and six kingdoms. Students will know the levels of taxonomy and the characteristics of the main categories and should be able to classify organisms from a macro and micro level. A brief review of viruses is included for comparison so students can see how viruses are not living. The INCLUDED Classification chart can be filled out while going over this power point. It is two pages and in landscape style so it can easily be placed into a Interactive Notebook.

Cells: Prokaryotes, Eukaryotes, Virus Writing Task Cards

(0)
It is important to promote writing across the disciplines. Sometimes it is difficult to come up with writing prompts. These task cards are specific to secondary science and they cover cells. There are writing prompts for the prokaryotes, eukaryotes, viruses, cell membrane, organelles, cellular processes, and osmosis. I have included the prompts in the power point format and pdf file format so you can choose which file you would like to use. By adjusting the page settings during printing you can print 6 or more / less prompts per page. This activity can be used as a bell ringer, pop quiz or closing. It is a good exercise to make the brief students write longer and the novel writers write shorter answers. There are 42 writing prompts with instructions as to how many sentences they should write. You can edit the power point file to adjust the sentence requirements.

I have bundled two versions of this genetic disorders worksheets. They both cover the same chromosomal diseases but one is short answer and the other asks the students to describe the disease symptoms. In both sets the students are given 8 karyotypes that they need to identify by gender and figure out what chromosomal abnormalities are in each. The students can then take that information and research it online or at a library to find the syndrome's name and symptoms (long answer set). The teacher key is included for both. The students worksheets are five pages long since they include an introduction in each set. The teacher keys are four pages long for each set. The picture file is just for advertising.*

Symbiosis Word Wall Coloring Sheets (6 pages)

Coloring pages have recently become a huge hit all over the world. In my new series of word wall coloring pages, you can bring the excitement of coloring into your middle school and high school science classrooms. This set includes the words: symbiosis, endosymbiosis, mutualism, commensalism, predation, and parasitism. Word Walls are an instructional tool used primarily in the elementary classroom. While teaching in Texas my administrators decided they wanted secondary teachers to use the tool as well. It was a great success on many levels. Students took time learning about their word and creating a design for it. I always displayed all the words and the students took great pride in seeing their work displayed. The students also enjoyed looking at each other’s work. I noticed over time that my students would frequently look at the wall while we working. Especially during pop quizzes or bell work. The word wall truly helped my students to remember their vocabulary words and seeing them displayed all the time in class made it easier for them to refresh their memory when necessary. Each word wall poster has a word wall art graphic that students can color. There is a designated box to write the scientific definitions, synonyms or examples, antonyms or nonexamples and space to write a sentence using the word. I developed word wall coloring pages for my students who struggled with what to draw and write when working on word walls. I always offer a blank template for my self-motivated artists, but the coloring pages allowed my students who struggle with a means for creating a beautiful piece of word wall art as well. My favorite way to use word walls includes after a test, to introduce new vocabulary in a relaxing format, sub work or as extra credit. They are also a fun way to revisit words student’s struggle with. In your file, you will receive the word wall word/words you purchased plus the blank template. I have also included a presentation on the cave ecosystem. The Biomes & Ecosystem power point and foldable are designed to be taught together. You can review the power point slides while having your students fill in the notes followed by a brief class discussion. The Biomes & Ecosystems Fold-out Foldable is a great way to present the characteristics and vocabulary of the variety of living systems on earth and then place into interactive notebooks. The foldable begins with an overview of basic biome and ecosystem vocabulary such as biodiversity, carrying capacity, ecological niche, and microclimate. The centers of the foldables have dedicated spaces for notes on the five biomes including the ecosystems found within the biomes. There is also a section specifically for cave ecosystems. For your special needs students, students with visual impairments, or handwriting difficulties I have included a modified fill in the blank version. There are two sets of teacher’s notes, one in red ink and the other in black ink. If you have students with an IEP which requires them to have a copy of teacher notes, the black ink notes come in handy. They are also good for students who have lost their glasses or were absent. Coloring pages have recently become a huge hit all over the world. In my new series of word wall coloring pages, you can bring the excitement of coloring into your middle school and high school science classrooms. This set includes the words: biome, forest, tundra, desert, grassland, and aquatic.
