Genetic expression is influenced by internal and external stimulus. After covering genetics this Quest power point is a great way to assess your students understanding of the two. There are fifteen authentic scenarios for students to discuss and determine the genetic expression cause. Some of the questions are historical. This is a good activity to follow up genetic expression to make sure your students understand the difference between internal and external stimulus. You can pair the students, use it as a flipped classroom assignment or turn it into a full class discussion. Answer sheet and key is included.
Quest power points ask the students questions. They do not present information instead the scenarios are designed to assess how well the students understand biological concepts.
This power point presentation can be done over a few days. It begins with the atom, chemical bonding and the elements of life (CHNOPS: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorous, sulfur). Then it goes over dehydration synthesis and hydrolysis followed by the four biomolecule groups. There is also a guided notes on CHNOPS that is a fill in blank for the first portion of the power point, the key is included. There is a biomolecules comparison chart for the second half of the power point. For the bonding portion of the power point, there is a "chemical bonding in biology" foldable. This can be put together like a brochure if you photocopy it front to back.
This power point question set has 25 slides where the students need to figure out what level of life is being described. Students can choose biomolecules, organelles, cells, tissue, organ, organ system, organism, population, community, ecosystem, or biosphere for their answers. It is a great way to get the students talking about what they learned in class and applying it to real life examples. I have the answer sheet and answer key included.
You can show the power point to the whole class or upload it to your classroom website and allow the students to work individually or pairs . Another option is to print the slides and have stations set up around the room for the students to visit and answer.

Student sheet allows for definitions and student notes. The teacher key has the answers and is set up just like the student printable for ease of grading and checking notes.
There is also a half page dichotomy key that students can use while they are classifying chemical reactions. It is is a series of yes / no questions that will guide the students to correctly labeling their chemical reactions.
This one page graphic organizer covers eight evidences of chemical reactions; color change, odor change, temperature change, indicator change, gas formation, precipitate formation, composition change and the irreversibility of chemical reactions.
The foldable is simple to photocopy front to back. The students have areas to draw examples they can relate too and the teacher key includes common instances of chemical reactions students will be able to identify with.
The inside portion of the foldable has places for students to write descriptions and list examples of each type of chemical reaction evidence.
This file contains three chemical reaction foldables. Each one has a student and teacher version.
The Three Foldable Bundle includes:
INTRODUCTION TO CHEMICAL REACTIONS
This is a one page foldable which is photocopied front to back. It gives students a overview of chemical reactions. The Law of Conservation of Matter / Mass, balancing chemical reactions, coefficients, subscripts , reactants and products are all covered.
Students will be able to identify the parts of a chemical reaction and count atoms to make sure they are balanced for the reactant and product sides.

Cell membrane graphic organizer foldable goes over the main function of the cell membrane and its components such as phospholipids, peripheral proteins, gylcocalyx, integral proteins, bi-lipid layer, and cholesterol. Only one sheet of paper is required.
Students will also assemble a cell membrane in the center of the foldable. They will color, cut out and glue the cell membrane components unto a phospholipid bi-layer after they finish drawing the missing phospholipids.
Teacher key included.
This activity can be taught alone or with the Cell Membrane power point. You can also purchase it with the power point in a bundle.

This Matter foldable is great for using in a secondary science interactive notebook. Is is very simple to put together with a fold-out design.
It covers classifying matter, states of matter, physical and chemical properties of matter with some questions for thought.
This is an excellent study tool and can be used for intervention. You are supplied with the very simple assembly instructions and answer key.
GREAT FOR ANY STATE!
The Atom Fold-Out Foldable is designed for secondary science courses. The anatomy of the atom is covered including valence electrons, energy level, isotopes and ions. The Bohr diagram and Lewis Dot structure are also covered. Students will also see what happens to an atom when the number of protons, neutrons and electrons are changed.
I have included assembly instructions which is extremely simple and the teacher's key.
EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR ANY CLASSROOM!
The DNA and RNA Bundle includes two power points and two one-page graphic organizer foldables for DNA and RNA.
The DNA Power point covers the historical discovery of DNA, naming important scientists and with explanation of Franklin's DNA photos. The structure of DNA and the nucleotides as well as Chargoff's rules and complimentary base pairing are presented.
The DNA foldable covers the same topics and can be easily taught along side the power point or separately. It only requires one sheet of paper and easily fits into a composition notebook or spiral notebook.
The RNA Power point chronologically presents the properties of RNA as they were discovered. The differences of the structure of ribose and deoxyribose and the differences between DNA and RNA nucleotides. Students will learn how to transcribe DNA into RNA and the function of the three types of RNA: messenger RNA, transfer RNA and ribosomal RNA.
The RNA foldable covers the same topics and can be easily taught along side the power point or separately. It only requires one sheet of paper and easily fits into a composition notebook or spiral notebook.
