Edexcel Politics ALevel but can be used for AQA or for US Civics lessons Third lesson in my series on the US Constitution which follows on from Origins and Principles. This lesson is based around evaluating the Constitution according to how fit for purpose it is. Includes all resources needed for a standalone lesson but will work best as a follow on from my previous lessons. Please note all PNG files are for image only- the folder includes fully editable word documents and a powerpoint. Please be aware- there was an issue with the powerpoint. This case study is a 2 page word document which includes infographics and maps as well as detail of several key Supreme Court decisions regarding abortion since 1973 landmark Roe v Wade decision. EG Casey v Planned Parenthood and of course Dobbs v Jackson. It is a standalone but fully editable word doc resource. PNG images are for visual purposes only. I use this as part of my unit on the US constitution and evaluating how effectively it protects rights and also by unit on the Supreme Court as part of evaluation of Court as policy makers, Judicial Activism and ideological balance of the court.

Edexcel ALevel Core Values of Socialism for Politics This lesson examines the core values underpinning Socialism as an ideology with some links to key thinkers and examples. Lesson 2 of my Socialism unit for Alevel. This lesson includes a range of resources including video clips to demonstrate the key ideas. This lessons should take 2-4 hours depending if you get students to do the Core Values independently and then go over it all to explain it after wards. I use both the Heywood and Pearson book for doing Core Values to give students for reading but if you have neither- a detailed summary of all ideas is contained on these slides.

This lesson is for the Component 1 teaching of Democracy. It examines the development of suffrage in the UK and milestones which led to this and examines more recent debates about the growth of suffrage e.g. Votes for 16 and the voting rights for prisoners. If you can get hold of a copy of Blackadder III Dish and Dishonesty it is well worth it- so funny for the state of Democracy in the 19th Century but it is not essential for this lesson. Obviously I cannot share this for copyright reasons. All other resources are included. Part of my whole topic on DEmocracy priced £8 you may wish to buy the whole topic instead :)
