This is an overview resource/ learning journey for a Key Stage 3 History Curriculum and is a fully editable learning journey powerpoint. Useful for schools looking to improve their History curriculum- has been approved by Ofsted as an outstanding curriculum but can be further adapted/ improved. Long Term Causes of World War I This is a two-three lesson plan looking at the MAIN causes of WWI starting with tensions between the Great Powers and looking at key themes such as Weltpolitik and Imperialism, Alliances and Nationalism and Militarism and Arms/ Naval races. Also includes the Moroccan and Bosnian crises (in brief!) Includes powerpoint, worksheets and several activities- including historiography and interpretations of Germany’s role in “starting WWI.” Suitable for KS3 or as an intro to KS4 unit on International relations.

This lesson is a fun and unusual way of introducing the great powers in 1900 and getting pupils to think about International Relations. I took the idea from a version of this at my training school but this is 100% my own version of it with added ridiculousness. It is by far the best introduction to International Relations for KS3 I have ever done. I’ve also used it for Year 10 studying International Relations pre WWI and it worked very well.
