Another retrieval activity for the Tudor Rebellions OCR ALevel course. This one randomly jumbles words and facts which are linked to the 5 rebellions against Henry VII. Students can colour code them according to which rebellion they are relevant to then as an extension they can try and add more detail about the facts. Eg which places are sites of battles? Which are attempted invasions etc. Answers also included for teachers new to the course or for self-assessment.

The amazing story of Harriet Tubman. Worksheet to accompany the film “Harriet” 2019 which tells the amazing story of the brave and courageous Harriet Tubman who worked on the Underground Railroad to help lead over 70 enslaved people to freedom from states such as Maryland to the free North. The worksheet has questions designed to help students understand the brutality and insidious nature of slavery as well as why what the Anti-Slavery Society and Tubman achieved was so impressive and important.

Edexcel GCSE History This lesson examines the ways in which Lanfranc changed the Saxon Church during the Norman conquest and how this enabled William to maintain control. Includes a “go find” activity which can also be used as a carousel with students working on different aspects of the Church. Could also be turned into an investigative commission where Lanfranc sends investigating Norman Archdeacons to report on wrong doings in the Church then writes a report. All info included, no textbook required. Also includes some exam questions and mark schemes/ example answer for 4 marker.

Edexcel Politics ALevel Component 3 USA Comparative Politics This is lesson 2 in my Unit on the Supreme Court and examines the nature of the nomination process, factors which influence the President and strengths and weaknesses of the process. Examines how independent the SCOTUS is and arguments for and against. Includes case studies on nominations of Amy Coney Barrett and Ketanji Brown Jackson for students to research, key examples from the past 75 years, video links to explainers/ examples and an essay plan on the question: Evaluate the view that the nomination process for the Supreme Court is fit for purpose. The essay plan is part completed for students, they have to use their knowledge from the past few lessons to complete it. Edexcel ALevel Politics Component 3 USA Politics Comparative Topic 4 Supreme Court and Civil Rights This is my Introduction lesson to the Court and key terms e.g. Stare Decisis, Loose/ Strict Constructivism and Originalism. Includes a key profile of the current court for a research homework and how they ruled on key cases e.g. Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Board of Health and New York state rifle assoc. v Bruen which cover key aspects of the divisive issues in the USA today e.g. abortion rights, gun control, voting rights, immigration and campaign finance. All the SCOTUS cases I cover are useful case studies for other topics due to the synoptic nature of the ALevel course, this helps students to join the dots. Introduction lesson to Voting Behaviour and the Media This lesson introduces students to the concept of studying voting behaviour and examines factors which may affect voting behaviour. The idea is that students are then given case studies to produce and present on an individual election. Edexcel Politicsc ALevel Paper 1 Feedback Note: This mock exam feedback and modelling is for the 2023 Paper but for Questions 1a/b and 2a/b only as I don’t teach Ideologies. This feedback powerpoint has common mistakes and key content for the exam questions 1a/b and 2a/b including a full modelled paragraph using the PEELE structure with clear evaluation and mini judgments. Also includes a purple pen response sheet with the modelled paragraphs to highlight and then space to write their own / example conclusions. Very detailed!

Edexcel GCSE lesson for Weimar and Nazi Germany- can be adapted for AQA or iGCSE Could also be used for ALevel as a base to build up. Lesson examining the impact of the Enabling Act and the Night of the Long Knives and how Hitler consolidated and strengthened his position to make himself a dictator The lesson begins with a consolidation/ recap of Hitler becoming Chancellor and the Reichstag Fire decree/ impact. Then it looks at how Hitler used the Enabling Act to attack trade unions and political parties before his purge of political enemies and the SA. Also includes a practice of a “how useful source” Question (although with just one source to save time- includes a model answer highlighting task for a cartoon source. Looks at how and why the Night of the Long Knives happened in 1934 and the Death of Hindenburg which enabled Hitler to name himself Fuhrer Very detailed, complete lesson- no additional resources are needed. Also includes a bonus video sheet for the Rise of the Nazis Episode 3 (BBC) but obviously I cannot include the video for copyright- however if you don’t have access it doesn’t matter- you can use a documentary on youtube or just use the slides.

Includes both a blank one for students if you wanted to set independent work and a completed one for aabsent students/ to check their work afterwards. Will need blowing up to A3 as used a tiny font to get all the info onto 2 sides to make it more user friendly as a reference sheet. Lesson examining and analysing compartive Politics looking at various aspects of USA President and UK Prime Ministers including: -Role and Powers -Cabinets -Accountability to Legislatures/ Checks and balances -Styles of Government -RElationships between branches Also includes updated examples as of January 2024 including James Cleverly controversies and attempts to impeach Biden in US House due to increasing partisanship Includes little video clips to demonstrate examples or show comparisons and a full breakdown of the comparative theories for this topic. Includes a colour code to help students get used to understanding the different theories and how to apply them. Very detailed and no need for any additional resources although can be set as independent work with textbook but all info is contained within resources so no need to own the Bennett book- if you don’t have it ignore page references in the teacher notes. This lesson has a lot of resources, more than enough for 2 hours of lessons (probably 3 hours if you include video tasks) plus homework and there is a 12 mark exam question for Edexcel included.

Edexcel ALevel Politics USA Politics Includes retrieval task to sort formal and informal powers of Presidency and a detailed breakdown of US Informal and formal powers of the POTUS. Examines the role of the US Vice President and US Cabinet (updated as of 2024) includes examination of Trump and Biden CAbinet and covers the nature and powers of the Cabinet as well as other basics e.g. frequency of meetings etc. Includes a picture sheet of the Biden Cabinet and two brief video tasks (youtube links included on slides). I have also included some similarities and differences to UK Cabinet for analysis as we go but have a comparative lesson at the end of the topic.

Edexcel GCSE History 9-1 Weimar and Nazi Germany This lesson looks at the Lean Years following the Munich Putsch and the way in which the Nazis reorganised including the development of new branches of the party e.g. women and young people and the development of the SS as a foil to the SA. Also includes the Bamberg Conference and the battle between Socialist and Nationalist factions within the party. Includes retrieval tasks on 25 point programme and the impact of the Munich Putsch
