Attached are dozens of essay plans which are fairly detailed with examples of rebellions for loads of past paper thematic questions. This is a grid for supporting your revision- it has some questions planned out in full for each topic and space for you to do your own using the models to help you. I’ve also included some full exemplar Level 5 essays for several topics.

These model answers are for the Edexcel Paper 1 Medicine paper from 2021. This is a grade 7-9 set of example answers.

Lesson for ALevel History This is for the OCR Thematic Tudor Rebellions scheme of work but can be used for Tudors looking at social unrest due to socio-economic problems in the Mid-Tudor Crisis. Full lesson which covers all aspects of the rebellion with a variety of activities including card sort, venn diagram, tables, continuum and lots of reading. Examines Causes, Aims, Nature, Events, Reasons for Increased Threat and Decreased Threat, Government resopnse and Impact of the Kett rebellion.

These revision diagrams are filled in as knowledge organisers to use to help students plan out the answers to the 12 and 16 markers on the later slides. The first five are just knowledge and understanding ones almost like knowledge organisers but then the following ones are set up around 12 and 16 mark exam questions. (See pics) Medieval Medicine 1250-1500, Renaissance 1500-1700, Industrial 1700-1900 and Modern 1900-Present and WWI Western Front Ideas on causes Ideas on treatment Ideas on prevention Changes/ continuity and reasons for change. For the WWI section it is a little different with problems, solutions, reasons for change and key words/ battles. You could always remove the knowledge if you wanted students to complete them themselves.

Part 2 of my lessons on Maintenance of Stabiity: this lesson looks at different policies used by Tudor Governments to maintain stability in England and Ireland. Detailed examples linked to rebellions to help prepare students for any essays related to how the government responded to rebellion or prevented further unrest using policy changes in both England and Ireland.

These grids are to help students consolidate their knowledge in sufficient depth for their thematic essays. Some students in my experience rely on the same superficial evidence/ factual knowledge to write these essays and even though they are not to write in depth; it is important that they show off their expertise. One grid is from rebel perspective looking at aims, leadership, support, actions threat and one is from government perspective looking at government support, response, impact an reasons for decreased threat etc. Example modelled on the Cornish rebellion.

Lesson on Revolt of the Norman Earls 1075 For GCSE Anglo Saxon and Norman England This lesson has all resources needed for teaching students about the Revolt of the Earls in 1075- ideally using the textbooks but all info is on slides if you don’t have them!

This is for ALevel Politics Edexcel but can be adapted to other boards- updated for 2022 with more recent developments in the voting rights issue. Detailed lesson looking at the Supreme Court and Civil / Voting Rights- it has everything you need included if you do not have the textbook it is fine!

Includes all information needed- although it refers to textbook pages all the info is on the slides.

Edecxel GCSE History- the Harrying of the North but can easily be adapted to any exam board by changing the exam questions William’s reasons for the Harrying of the North and a 16 mark planning question on this. Looking at the Short and Long term impact of the Harrying of the North- colour code exercise. Includes everything you need, no need for a textbook.

Edexcel GCSE: ANglo Saxons and Normans Can be used/ adapted for other exam boards. Topic 2- looking at the ways in which William established control- this is a lesson created to save teaching time by covering a lot of content in 1 lesson with students splitting the workload and then teaching each other the content. Includes retrieval quiz for topic 1 Anglo Saxons and all resources necessary- if you don’t have the textbooks all info is on the slides which can be printed and handed out to relevant groups.

Full lesson on Battle of Hastings- uses the Battlefield Britain clip which there is a link to but also includes plenty of information as a stand alone resource includes diagrams, colour code and exam question/ example answer (16 marks) For the Edexcel specification GCSE although can be adapted to others Why did William win the Battle of Hastings? This lesson is for KS3 not KS4 therefore is more focused on the Big 3 and their aims rather than simply the impact on Germany and Dolchstoss etc- I do have a lesson for KS4 as well Fully resourced lesson with several different activities.
