I post things that are finished and that work. I make resources when I can't find anything that works in the way which I want it to. If they don't work for you then let me know through the comments section and I'll try to put them right. If they do work and you like them then please comment too. Some things take a long time to make and to get right... so I charge a little for those.

Drugs: half the damage

What if you could do drugs but only do half the damage? A few months ago the BBC news website carried a series of images of people made up to look as if only half of their body was damaged by drugs, a sort of left-handed Dorian Gray portrait. I found the pictures intriguing and with just PowerPoint and Paint I have made a set of images that are quite striking and may provoke debate. The photographer is Roman Sakovich.

Advertising Triple Science to KS3

Triple Science Opens Doors is a powerpoint that can be used in assemblies or on interactive displays to advertise the benefits of triple science. I have also printed out the individual slides and displayed them in groups of three in labs and corridors. There are slides linked directly to food tech, product design, music, english, geography, history, so have them displayed there too!!

Show the initial slide to introduce the activity. Pupils are put into groups of four to discuss how they would stop the spread of this fatal disease. Real life solutions can be seen later in the ppt.

Writing chemical formulae and writing equations

Help your students to turn the name of a chemical into the chemical formula. A carefully constructed sequence of exercises will teach your students how to write chemical formulae. Starting with simple binary compounds and working up through complex ions, like sulphate and nitrate, until they get to brackets. Then students are taken through writing equations with a worked example and then a series of questions. If you like this, leave a review, some constructive criticism or some questions. Some Key-words to use in controlled assessments

(1)
A version of the glossary provided by the exam boards. This one has had its reading age reduced but not it's content or it&'s usefulness. It can also be used to introduce the terms in KS3 if you are 'Getting Practical'

Fertilisation in Humans

This is a three slide powerpoint. Print out the first two and you have a cut and paste activity. I added the third slide so that pupils could self mark the activity. It saves a lot of writing about intercourse which some pupils in year seven find difficult to do. Comments and feedback welcome

Lesson plan outlines activity. Document can be cut up into strips for sorting. Last page can be held back for less able pupils. Pupils sort statements into ones that favour gorillas, ones that favour chimpanzees and ones that favour a new species. Ppt is a useful backdrop. Comments welcome.

Handy starter printed on two sheets to reduce to A5 on printing. Only you will know that all the answers are true, some look outlandish but they are real.

Key Stage 3, Year 8, Science Revision Slide Show for the Breathing topic. I use this as a homework resource initially, that pupils can work through at their own pace. I also use it in revision lessons. The Breathing Revision Power Point is written for the Exploring Science course and follows their Big Questions format. This resource is a great starter for a GCSE respiration topic

Weathering, A Case Study using Surtsey Island,

A photographic introduction to the island, which was created by an underwater volcano in 1963. It has remained off limits to the general public and is studied to see how weathering and erosion lead to soil formation. The final slide can be used as a template for a weathering diagram or annotated as a class activity. Feedback welcomed.
