I post things that are finished and that work. I make resources when I can't find anything that works in the way which I want it to. If they don't work for you then let me know through the comments section and I'll try to put them right. If they do work and you like them then please comment too. Some things take a long time to make and to get right... so I charge a little for those.

Key Stage 3, Year 8, Science Revision Slide Show for The Metals topic. I use this as a homework resource initially, that pupils can work through at their own pace. I also use it in revision lessons. The Metals Revision Power Point is written for the Exploring Science course and follows their Big Questions format. This resource is a great starter for a GCSE Metals and reactivity topic.

Old A*-G AQA GCSE Chemistry Unit C3 question and answer revision sheet Starter Question Bank

The Old A*-G AQA unit C3 syllabus turned into a series of questions and answers. Really useful bank of questions for starters Great for knowledge acquisition. The format is a table with two columns, one Questions, the other Answers. Students fold the paper in half and ask themselves the question, then turn over for the answer. Great for revision in pairs or with a parent, even if they don’t know the chemistry, because the answers are already there.

This powerpoint focuses less on chemistry and more on the economic aspects of the process. Some good links to geography and business studies.

Weathering, A Case Study using Surtsey Island,

A photographic introduction to the island, which was created by an underwater volcano in 1963. It has remained off limits to the general public and is studied to see how weathering and erosion lead to soil formation. The final slide can be used as a template for a weathering diagram or annotated as a class activity. Feedback welcomed.

Multiple choice quiz with answers that give an anagram of rutherford. The stems have strange lettering to achieve this so watch out, pupils find it difficult to get their heads round a. b. c. d. m. n. o. p.!

Mechanisms for AQA A-Level Chemistry, second year

I made this presentation from the mark schemes of exam papers. It includes the examiners comments and notes. AQA are quite picky about getting the mechanisms just right so I went to the source, the examiners and not the texts.

The bonding in ethene

This can be used as an introduction to ethene. It is designed to help students link the displayed formula, that is common in texts, to the idea of a covalent bond being a shared pair of electrons. Comments and feedback are welcome

There is a work book and an answer sheet in the resource. Pupils can be guided through the work book although more able pupils will be able to use it as an independent study booklet. I have included answers as colleagues found them helpful. Reviews and constructive criticism welcome

GCSE Rates of Reaction animated PowerPoint (updated) and worksheets

Adaptation of a very useful power point on Rates of reaction and factors affecting rates. In its original free version it had over 60,000 downloads, so now after ten years I have put up the newest iteration and decided to charge, a little. It is still animated in all the useful areas and contains many hidden slides that can be unmasked to aid with understanding. Now includes recall questions as a starter and some more questions for a plenary The pack includes a couple of useful writing frames for note taking and a set of revision questions for students to learn.
