FREE! Flip for Math: Step-By Step, 3-in-1, Flip Book for Multiplying Fractions

(3)
The purpose of a ‘We Flip for Math’ Flip Book, is to provide a struggling student with a step-by-step guide to take them through the process they are struggling with. The complexity of some skills can be quite challenging for many students. Being able to remember all the steps can become overwhelming. A flip-book can help walk these children through the process. In addition, I have found flip-books can be helpful when sending homework home. Including a flip book can make for very happy parents! This free flip book is a ‘three-in-one’ flip-book. • Section 1 provides a step-by-step guide for multiplying a fraction and a whole number. • Section 2 demonstrates how to multiply two fractions. • Section 3 focuses on how to multiply mixed numbers. If you like this flip book be sure to check out others being offered at my store!

Get Organized! 8th Grade Common Core ELA Binder Organizer & Tracker

(1)
Organize all your ELA materials by Common Core Standard! When I first began teaching in 1989, a wonderful teacher gave me a binder filled with teaching materials. All the materials were organized by objectives--we didn’t call them standards or indicators back then. That binder was my life-line. Enter Common Core. While much of the content of my binder was still relevant, it needed to be reorganized. Some things did have to go and new things were added. Some of the objectives, now called standards, were looking a little thin. But with my binder, it was easy to see the gaps that still need to be filled. This product doesn’t have actual lessons, but it does provide you with everything you need to get organizing by make your own common core binder! Every 8th grade English Language Arts Standard has it’s own sheet (both a color and black and white version), a master list of all standards for tracking dates taught, ready made index tabs for every standard/indicator, binder spines (both color and black and white) and a Quick Note/evaluation sheet for recording additional resources (websites, smart-board lessons, videos, etc.) and the effectiveness of the lesson. I personally opted to do 4 binders (literature, informational text, writing and language). I included foundational skills with the literature binder and speaking and listening with writing. I printed the main covers in color, but the individual standards on coordinating colored paper. You could laminate the divider pages, but I opted to slip each into a protective sleeve. The possibilities of how to set your binder up are virtually endless. To see how I set mine up, be sure to which contains pictures showing the final product. visit my blog post which contains pictures showing the final product.

Students love this step-by-step, hands-on guide for Dividing Decimals! The purpose of a ‘We Flip for Math’ Flip Book, is to provide a struggling student witha step-by-step guide to take them through the process they are struggling with. I have various flip books available in my classroom, but only after I’ve taught the concept and we have practiced it a number of times. The complexity of some skills can be quite challenging for many students. Being able to remember all the steps can become overwhelming for some. A flip-book can help walk these children through the process. In addition, I have found flip-books can be helpful when sending homework home . Including a flip book can make for very happy parents! This packet contains three flip-books. • The first flip-book provides a step-by-step guide for dividing a decimal by a whole number. • The second flip-book covers how to divide two decimals. • The third flip-book demonstrates how to divide a whole number by a decimal. Each flip-book has two step-by-step examples. One example contains a equation without a remainder and the second example shows an equation with a remainder. Each flip-book has an individual cover so you can make three separate flip-books. Also included are ready-made tabs that can be used to divide sections if you choose to combine all three books into one flip-book.

A flip-book can help walk these children through the process. In addition, I have found flip-books can be helpful when sending homework home . Including a flip book can make for very happy parents! This packet contains a 2-part flip-book that focuses on multiples. In the first section, the step-by-step process for finding a single number's multiples is given. The second section, shows how to use The 'M' Method to find the Least Common Multiple of two numbers. Also included are 10 ‘Jumbo’ practice cards and two ready-made tabs for dividing the two parts. Answer key is included. Just a note, The 'M' Method for finding LCM works well when first introducing the concept of finding the LCM. The method is quite different than finding GCF, which helps prevent confusing the two skills. The method also provides a very structured approach that makes the skill easier for most students to master.

Integer Rules: Fold-Up Resource & More

(1)
Integer Rules resource for students and parents! This fold-up resource provides students with the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers. Included in this packet is a four-flap fold-up. The fold-up explains the rule for each operation and provides examples of each. The teacher has two options for the inside of the fold-up. One option is completely filled in. The second option has empty example boxes for the students to fill in with problems of their own. To assemble the fold-up, run a copy of the outside (p.3). The outside will appear to be upside-down. This is done intentionally for a proper fold-up. Next, choose the inside (either p. 4 or 5) and run it on the backside of the outside. Next, with the inside face up, bring the bottom of the page up to the center black line and fold. Then, bring the top of the page down to the center black line and fold. Finally, cut on the 2 dotted lines. The end result should be a four-flap fold up. I have also included to 2-sided worksheet to use with students. Also, included is an answer key.

My Turn to Learn QR Code Task Cards: Subtract Fractions with Unlike Denominators

(1)
Turn to Learn task cards are fun to use because students love using a QR code reader to check their answers. This product contains: • 24 Task Cards. Each card has a fraction subtraction equation. • Students will need to know: -How to find the common denominator -Write equivalent fractions. -Subtract the equivalent fractions. -Simplify the answer to lowest terms. This does involve writing an improper fraction as a mixed number on a few of the cards. Please see preview page to see an example of the problems. • 24 cards with a corresponding QR code. The QR codes are the answers to the problems. • 2-sided workspace recording sheet that students can use to solve the problems. Working with Decimals - Fold-Ups Galore

(1)
FOUR fold-ups for one GREAT price! This packet contains four different decimal fold-ups. Each fold-up is designed to fit perfectly in a math journal or be used as a stand alone resource. • The first fold-up divides adding and subtracting decimals into an easy to follow three step process. Run front cover on one side of paper and inside steps on other side. Trim on grey line for a nice fit in any math journal. • Fold-up number two is a half sheet, two-flap fold-up that shows multiplying decimals in two easy steps. Two fold-ups per sheet. Again, run cover on one side of paper and inside on the other side. Note that the cover is upside down for easier assembly. • Fold-up number three shows three types of division with decimals: Dividing a decimal by a whole number, dividing a decimal number by a decimal number and finally, dividing a whole number by a decimal. Don't teach all three? Just cut away the type you don't want. Think all three in one fold-up is too much for your students? Cut all three apart and present one at a time. Run cover and inside as described above. Trim on grey line for a nicer fit in a math journal. • The fourth (and final) decimal 3 flap fold-up, explains rounding decimals, comparing decimals and converting a decimal to a percent. Run copies as stated above. Trim on grey line for a nicer fit in a math journal. As always, I recommend you run a test copy just to make sure you have the front and back on right and the fold-up folds up correctly.
Goal Setting and Tracking Pack for Accelerated Reader

Goal Setting and Tracking Pack for Accelerated Reader

(1)
Note: This product is designed to be used in a classroom in which the school year is divided into quarters (1st quarter - 4th quarter). This product is a companion to Accelerated Reader program which is used in many classrooms. This product contains: 4 Goal Setting Sheets (one for each quarter). Goal Setting Parent Signature Sheet. Weekly Goal Tracking Sheet. To use this product, students set their goals for the appropriate quarter. I recommend they use their previous grade’s information to aid their decision for the first quarter. Once they’ve chosen their goals, they record them by both writing the number and coloring the graphs on the goal setting sheet. Students also record their goals on the goal setting half sheet and take home for a parent signature. Throughout the quarter, students check and record their progress on a weekly basis. At the end of the quarter, I distribute their original goal sheet and they 'star' those goals they met.

Division Strategies: 2-Digit Divisor Partial Quotient Fold-Up & Practice

Division Strategies: 2-Digit Divisor Partial Quotient Fold-Up & Practice

(1)
Perfect Partial Quotient resource for students and parents! The new Common Core Standards for Math prompted me to create this Partial Quotient Strategy pack for use with students and with parents. This fold-up resource models how to use the partial quotient method to solve a double-digit divisor division problem using the partial quotient method. The example shows a simple strategy that could be used with any equation. It then goes on to explain that once you master the method, you will be able to see faster ways to reach the answer. I do teach the Partial Quotient Strategy to all my students. We begin with single-digit divisors and then quickly move on to double-digit. I feel the real power of partial quotient is recognized when using it to solve double-digit divisor problems. If practiced enough, students will learn the method and most will use it when doing double-digit divisor equations. Thus, eliminating the dreaded double-digit divisor problem being solved with the standard algorithm. Now for parents. When I first began teaching this method I kept hearing time and time again how challenging the math was. How the parents could not even help their child with their math because the way we are solving problems is ‘not the way they learned it’. So, I created this fold-up resource not only for my students, but for their parents as well. Having this resource with homework or in a math journal has remedied any concerns or problems. Included in this packet is a one-fold fold-up. The fold-up gives an example of dividing a 2-digit divisor equation using the partial quotient method. I have also included to 2-sided worksheet to use with students. Also, included is an answer key. If you would like to see pictures of the single-digit divisor fold-up, please visit Mrs. B's Best Blog. While the fold-up shown is not the one included in this product, it does show you how to assemble the fold-up.
