I made the analogy of a 'recipe' for writing to argue, as exam revision for year 11. The response to this was generally quite good, so here is the powerpoint I used to guide the lesson. I must add that I could have made more of the powerpoint/analogy but as an initial idea I hope you can use the recipe idea.Please use as you wish.

I am an examiner for this paper, so this lesson really focuses on the skills I know are needed to push students further and get good marks on this lomng question. The lesson also guides students through an example paper and paragraphs. I also use the phrase WHAT, WHERE, HOW, COMPARE which my students at school used as a chant for any piece of comparative writing.
